All the more reason to expect A Quiet Place to make bank: the market is starved for an actually appealing horror movie.

I honestly don't remember anyone ever mentioning it again day after Oscars night. Edited June 24 by TomThomas

RamblinRed
It's sort of interesting to look at top performers post-pandemic by season. Spring is Mar-Apr releases Summer is May-Jul releases Holiday is Nov-Dec Releases. Post-Pandemic, there has not been a summer season with more than 1 film to make at least $400M. I think this Summer '24 season has the best chance to do that. IO2 is headed for at least $500M+ and more likely $600M+. The previous 2 summers we have had Summer '23 - 1 $600M+ film (Barbie), 3 $300M+ films (AtSV, GotG3, Oppenheimer) Summer '22 - 1 $700M+ film (TG:M), 3 $300M+ films (JW:D, Minions, Thor) It looks like D&W has a strong shot at getting into the $400M+ club - joining 2 other Marvel movies post pandemic (Wakanda and MoM). DM4 and Twisters both have a shot at $300M+. A 600+, 400+ and 2 300+ films would be a good summer. The Holiday season will be interesting to see what breaks out. In 2021 you had the NWH juggernaut. Then Holiday 2022 you had Avatar go just below $700M and Wakanda do over $450M (the only 'season' post pandemic to have more than 1 $400M+ film). But Holiday 2023 no movie made over $300M. Wonka was the only movie to make over $200M.

The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Sound of Metal ... all great movies. It was a better line-up than the subsequent year for sure.
