>Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween dominates in its second weekend, breaking the franchise second weekend record. The 25th entry in the series sold an outstanding 624,000 admissions in its sophomore frame, bringing its ten-day admissions up to 2,545,879. It's tracking 2% ahead of 2019's Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire (the highest-grossing film in the franchise) after two weeks, and with a less competitive Golden Week holiday period coming up next week, it should be able to improve upon that lead further. So, its chances of becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise appear pretty good right now, and I'd expect a finish around ¥9.5 billion (~$75 million) and around 7 million admissions.

>Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore holds steady in second place, selling a further 215,992 admissions over its third weekend, bringing its three-week admissions up to 1,850,596 admissions. It should catch Spider-Man: No Way Home next weekend, or very shortly into next week, thanks go Golden Week. And not long after that, it'll outgross NWH's total to become the highest-grossing Hollywood film since 2019. And if it's comfortably above ¥4 billion (say, ¥4.2 billion or more) after May 8th, there's a good chance it reaches the ¥5 billion (~$40 million) blockbuster milestone.

>Crayon Shin-chan: Mononoke Ninja Chinpuden debuts nicely in third place (second in admissions), selling 253,000 admissions over the weekend frame across 363 screens, and 279,980 over its first three-days in release. It's hard to compare its opening to last year's film since that one was delayed from April to July (much different months), so films released in 2019 and earlier will serve as better comparisons. And in doing that, this opening is 8% higher than 2019's film, and 15% lower than 2018's film. Interestingly though, the 2019 film outgrossed the 2018 film, so despite being a 30 entry film franchise, there can still be some differences in legs. Golden Week doesn't have too much to offer this year, so I'd expect some of the better legs in the franchise this year. Let's aim for ¥2 billion.

>Free! The Final Stroke - Part 2's weekend figure is an an estimated figure based on its three-day coming in ~19.2% higher than anticipated based on its admissions at the usual locations versus the last film. Its three-day actual comes in an impressive 31% higher than Part 1. I'll update its weekend gross when the actual is (hopefully) released in a day or so.

>Sing 2 is holding just well enough to ensure it gets over the ¥3 billion (~$25 million) milestone.

>Likewise, The Last 10 Years is doing just enough to keep the ¥3 billion milestone in its sights, and with the help of Golden Week, it should get there as well. It's a little less likely than Sing 2 to get there, but it's doable with its current earnings going into one of the three major holiday periods of the year.

>Jujutsu Kaisen 0 finally falls out of the Top 10 in its 18th-weekend, but it accomplished a huge feat by becoming the 15th Highest-Grossing Film of All-Time! (Well, a four-way tie in the position, but it's broken that as of the time of this being posted.) Its admissions are now up to 9,627,767. Its run is coming to and end soon, although Golden Week will give it a sort of farewell bump. Expect a finish around ~¥13.6 billion ($121.2 million) and ~9.7 million admissions. A 2021 release, but included in the 2022 Eiren year, it's almost guaranteed to be the biggest film of the year.

NOTE: Yes, USD figures look lower than normal with these figures. In case it was missed in previous posts, the JPY (Yen) has weakened tremendously due to the strength of the US Dollar (massive inflation in the US versus Japan's market where inflation hasn't been much of a thing in almost 30 years) in recent months, and is nearing 1990s level of exchange rates. So... USD (Dollar) figures are going to be lower than we're used to seeing over the last 20+ years.

Thank’s to Corpse.

We are now 24 years USD-JPY low 😅 Back to 1990s. It's time to explore our past E.R. as USD-JPY is expected to hit ¥150 in next two weeks.

Hello guys,

I've been lurking box office theory since the release of The Hunger Games in 2012. I made this account long ago but I don't post. I just wanted to ask for the link for Mimorin, please. I remember it was the page where I used to watch admissions for Japanese box office and this week seems quite interesting.Besides, I'm a huge Conan fan😁

Nevertheless, I can't find the Mimorin page anymore. If you please have it or or you have the link to a webpage where I can see daily updates of the Japanese box office I would appreciated it.

Thanks in advance!

How would it get 1B ow when it's releasing on wednesday which will massively deflate the weekend? Doesn't make much sense to me unless you mean the 5 days.

Anyway presales look wayyyy too good for an OD that low to me. Thinking 350-400 atleast.

Wednesday Thursday are holidays, plus normal weekend, 1B aren't too hard

I mean, yeah, but that's if you're counting the 5day as OW which is what I was asking. 1B for the 5 days period looks easy here but it's not 'OW' then.
