Along with the Gods is the local hit that 2017 needed. It’s been a bit of a down year for them comparatively.

They already announced a TV series base on Along with the Gods premise. Seems interesting.

What’s 1987? Looks like it’s doing well for itself too.

RIP The Last Jedi. That’s just horrid. Star Wars is just not it for SK, and most of Asian territories tbh.

A historical drama based on real life events surrounding the June Democracy Movement in 1987 which brought about the end of the military regime of President Chun Doo-hwan.

Also starring  Ha Jung-woo.

Could Along with the Gods reach over 13M admissions? Its run looks like it has a lot of gas left.

Really looking forward to watch it. I love all the actors involved.

Ha Jung Woo has 2 box office hits out at the same time sitting atop the BO. That’s neat.

In a word (phrase?), yes it could. It should cross 10 million admissions on either thursday or friday at the latest, making it second only to Roaring Currents in terms of days spent. So 13M admissions is certainly in the picture, but it still has a way to go. Here are some historical 13M admission films runs.

Fastest to 13M admissions

Roaring Currents (2014) - 17 days

Ode to my father (2014) - 53/54 days

Avatar (2009) - 74 days

The Host (2006) - 81 days

Putting aside Roaring Currents for the moment (that BO run was just a class apart), these films were all 4-quad films, bringing in the older generation as well as the younger to create extremely leggy runs (Avatar being the prime example). Impressive run notwithstanding, along with the gods is just getting off the holiday period so it's 4-quad status is still a little unclear. It's fantastical elements probably appeal more to the younger generation, but I guess we'll find out by seeing how it plays in the coming days and weeks.

Coco opens next week to a pretty crowded box office. Apparently though, the audience reacted 'enthusiastically' during several preview screenings around the country yesterday so one hopes word of mouth will carry this film to break out.

Traditionally Pixar has recorded some pretty unflattering box office numbers down the years, although recently Finding Dory and especially Inside out were great successes. Here's to hoping Coco follows the latter trend.

Biggest Pixar OD (Admissions: 2004~)

01. 110,392 Toy Story 3 (2010)

02.   76,938 Finding Dory (2016)

03.   74,494 The Good Dinosaur (2015)

04.   68,214 Inside Out (2015)

05.   55,741 Wall-E

07.   25,952 Cars (2006)

08.   23,017 The Incredibles (2004)

09.   21,801 Cars 3 (2017)

10.   18,180 Ratatouille (2007)

11.   10,974 Cars 2 (2011)

12.     9,957 Monsters University (2013)
