That’s some disparity between critics and audience. But good to hear it’s getting favorable response from audience.

From what I see online, Hugh Jackman is pretty popular in SK. Les Mis did great over there. Was a bit surprised Logan didn’t do better.

Wow, crazy! Which movie is holding that record right now? It it The Admiral or Roaring Currents?

If I remember rightly, I think the Mummy Randomly broke the single day record and then died a death of all deaths

[2017 top 50 admissions ranking breakdown-Local vs Foreign]

1-10

Local films: 7

Foreign releases: 3

11-20

Local films: 4

Foreign releases: 6

21-30

Local films: 6

Foreign releases: 4

31-40

Local films: 1

Foreign releases: 9

41-50

Local films: 7

Foreign releases: 3

Total

Local films: 25

Foreign releases: 25

The top 50 films comprise 77.1% of the annual box office. The box office earnings too was pretty evenly split between local and foreign releases this year (51% to 49%), the slight difference maybe coming from a polarizing December performance. In general, local films generated more "big hits" while foreign releases quietly accumulated solid, if unspectacular results. All in all a pretty healthy box office year. Traditional problems such as the monopoly of screens and showtimes, and the importance of word of mouth reaction still seem very evident.

On a side note, it would be nice if 2018 generated a 10M hit for a foreign release, the last one was AoU back in 2015.
