Idk how, but Conan won back the most showings lol. -1% W2W for Elemental is really good, it means the effect of Smugglers cancelled out the school holiday boost entirely which is about the best case scenario it could have asked for.

Conan loves Thursdays but hates Fridays it seems. Smugglers is more frontloaded than MI7 which jumped 49% in presales Thu -> Fri, but granted that wasn't during the holidays. I don't expect Elemental to come close to -1% last week since it wasn't the holidays but a sub-20% drop would be gravy and set up a better weekend hold than I was expecting.

MI7 got hit the hardest vs. last week but has the best Fri -> Sat jump. Elemental's jump is smaller which was expected since it's now the school holidays. Hopefully it wins back a lot of showings for Sat/Sun so the walkups can match or exceed the PS drop.

I'd say with Elemental we just don't know yet because it's not really reached a point of slowing down. I'd say conservatively 7.5 million admissions though. Which is $57 million.

I could see it happily coasting at ~500k admissions per week for a few more weeks if not for Ransomed and The Moon dropping at the same time next Wednesday while it's fighting Smugglers for screens. That's gonna hurt its late legs quite a bit unless it gets lucky and Smugglers takes most of the damage. CGV says both are rated 12 so they'll be bigger competition than Smugglers was this week.

Well it took until the 7th weekend but it seems Elemental will finally drop from the OW this time (422,075 FSS). That's one week fewer than it took Bohemian Rhapsody which did it on its 8th. It does have a chance to beat BR's streak of the most number of days before making a new daily low though. BR opened to 110k admissions and dropped to 65k on its 2nd day. It took 48 days for it to drop below that number on day 50. Elemental is following a similar pattern, its lowest day was also on day 2 when it saw just 41,921 admissions on its first Thursday. To beat BR it needs to stay above that number up to and including Wednesday, which will be tough given the new competition. It would need to drop by 43% or better from last Wednesday. At the very least it should be able to tie BR IMO.

@Issac Newton it's not quite as strong as the legs in Japan but 31 weeks into its release and Slam Dunk is still at a $433/52 admission per screen average! It recently overtook RoundUp 3 in dailies which is the highest grossing movie in Korea this year 😮

SLAM DUNK won't be ending anytime soon. It's the only new thing that has come out since last 30 years of anime debut (1993-1996)

 

I still remember how Korean &Taiwanese (even Cantonese) came out to support this work and drive the WOM -
