Rsyu
I fear for MI5 this week. It might not recover if memories of the sword opens big and takes another sizable chunk of it's showtimes. I think this box office period has shown the upper limits of the Korean box office. It can't really sustain 3 mega hits during a similar time period and it looks like MI5 is losing out. It will be a great success for the local film industry if Veteran can leg it's way to 10M admissions on top of Assassination. It will be interesting to see if 2015 can match 2014's record for number of 10M admission films (2014 had 4). I guess among the remaining films, The Throne has the best chance. outside bets include The long way home, The martian (another interstellar maybe? although I admit I'm biased ). Not too certain about the release schedule for films during the winter holiday frame but I guess something big will be also released then. Rsyu
Liam Neeson is to be cast as General MacArthur in upcoming Korean film "Battle of Incheon" (working title). The battle in question was an amphibious invasion and battle of the Korean civil War that resulted in a decisive victory and strategic reversal in favor of the United Nations. The operation involved some 75,000 troops and 261 naval vessels, and led to the recapture of the South Korean capital of Seoul two weeks later (wikipedia). The film is aiming for a 6.25 release for 2016 which is the date the Korean war started.
Rsyu
Do u think $50 m for mi5 still possible? What the final gross cn we expect? Depends on how it fares against future competition. Ideally, it would need a sub 50% drop this week to have a chance.

Rsyu
Congrats to Assassination for cracking 10 million admissions. Roaring Currents record is safe but it looks like Assassination could make a run for The Thieves' record of 12.8M admissions. True, it took longer to reach 10M admissions, but I have a feeling late legs will be better for Assassination. Very impressive hold for Veteran (an increase in fact). Locking this for 10M admissions now as well. I'm fairly certain that two 10M admissions films released within 2 weeks of each other is a first. It goes to show that they mega films can co-exist (even though other films will suffer as a result). Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation will decrease by around 60% compared to last week. It's quite an astonishing drop but not unexpected due to the heavy competition. 6M admissions is locked but as it stands, Ghost Protocol looks difficult to beat. Minions recorded a good Saturday drop, and the weekly numbers should hold at around (-40%) compared to last week. Pretty average but acceptable considering the competition. $15 million is a good bet maybe 16-17 million finish. Looks like new releases aren't impressing the audience. Their screens could be reallocated to existing holdovers next week as a result Special comments on Inside out which passed Kung fu panda to become the 3rd most attended animated film in Korea. It's really close to KFP2's record too but might not have enough left in the tank to get there. A hugely impressive run nonetheless Top 10 most attended animated film (2001~) 01. 10,279,829 Frozen (2014) 02. 5,062,722 Kung-fu Panda 2 (2011) 03. 4,741,679 Inside Out (2015) 04. 4,673,009 Kung-fu Panda (2008) 05. 3,300,533 Shrek 2 (2004) 06. 3,015,165 Howl's moving Castle (2004) 07. 3,000,056 How to train your dragon 2 (2014) 08. 2,801,949 Big Hero 6 (2015) 09. 2,844,159 Shrek 3 (2007) 10. 2,603,857 How to train your Dragon (2010)

HesAPooka
So is MI5 going to reach 50m?
The Dark Alfred
I think MI5 is doing decent business against two local juggernauts. It's nor a bad number considering the screens it lost. Maybe the potential was there for a higher tally, but still great nonetheless. 50m is still doable.
Andy001
With this kinda competition if mi5 manages to do $45 m should b a big success.
