+28% off yesterday is a nice bump, let's see how much of that lead it can maintain this evening since I doubt those 25k Insidious presales were for midday. Barbie might be skewing late too. I expect MI7 to slow down more versus yesterday though since Elemental already lost some evening shows to it this week as evidenced by its weaker evening walkups on Mon and Tue.

Wouldn't the pre-sales for later shows be included in the opening day 9AM numbers?

In 6 hours

Insidious: + 12,826 admissions

Barbie:  +12,131

MI7: +37,433

Elemental: +27,799

Yes but I'm talking about the evening walkups for MI7 and Elemental. Since most of Insidious and maybe Barbie's presales were focused in the evening that means exhibitors took away some evening showings for holdovers to make space for them. Hence a bit of a slowdown in the walkup rate but it shouldn't be too bad since neither Barbie nor Insidious are looking like big hits.

Barbie

Naver 9.11
= Female 9.6 / Male 5.92

pretty much say everything.. lol

I mean Barbie is known for having a Dream House, expensive cars, 56 different careers she's great at and 87,543 fabulous outfits.   Ken is known for having no penis.  🤷‍♀️

Oh boy... this will not have good legs unless it is totally carried out by female audiences.

safe to say this isn't getting the male audience lol

Movies that attract a more female audience tend to have better legs in South Korea. It would be interesting to see what the EGG score would be for females only. That said there are ofc also female centric movies that are frontloaded, but the score given by women seems good so lets wait a few days, or alteast one more before throwing out legs for this movie.

Ofc not attracting very few male audience will hurt it a bit but where are not trying for 7-10m admission  where this might really start to come in to play.

Sorry. I went offtopic and I meant that this score perhaps will be similar WW, which might be bad for the movie's WW legs. I am sorry but this is not the place for that comment since it is South Korea only.

Barbie wasn't going to do big numbers in here anyway.

Barbie brand is not a thing here and its (US) success was driven by US meme, Twitter, social media.

Also US Comedy films and its humor style seems unpopular here.

8m would match Bohemian Rhapsody's 19x FSS multiplier which would be ridiculous. Maybe school holidays can help it though.

Speaking of, does anyone know what movie has the best multiplier in Korea?

I'm not sure what movie has the best multiplier, but IMO the most impressive example of a movie breaking out is a indie documentary called 'Old Partner'. Its opening day  was around 1,000 admissions but it ended with almost 3 million admissions.

Frozen 2 was a big breakout in Asia. Almost broke Endgame weekend in Korea. Barbie is just so unfunny and looks crap.

This is good trivia for anyone who say Asia doesn't like Barbie because it's feminism movie.
