They've scheduled it for Independence Day so they're trying to tie it into that which may work.  But it's not high concept sci-fi like his biggest films - it's a talky bio pic.

Holy shit I didn't realize Interstellar sold over 10 million tickets in South Korea. And Inception was almost 6 million.

Anyways, Dunkirk numbers would be wonderful for Oppenheimer in South Korea. That's just my impression though.

Elementals walkups so far vs. Other Mondays (12am - 3pm)

 

2 Mondays ago: 23,720

Last Monday: 20,908

This Monday: 25,824 (+8.9% 2M, +23.5% LM)

 

Walkups really start from ~7am but in the absence of those numbers this will do. If it runs like 2 Mondays ago it will end with 65,269 walkups and 84,860 admissions. If it runs like last Monday it will end with 56,668 walkups and 76,259 admissions. I think last Mondays comp is better (2M had more evening shows because of the lack of MI7), so probably high 70s today.

Oops - it's for July 10th in SK but I was posting from the 9th in my time zone.  Yes that latest is a comp from the 17th which had numbers from 3pm on.

I mean Luca did pretty well in the few countries it was released in.

 

Even Turning Red did pretty good when it was in theaters in some places.

Good increase for Elemental assuming walkups will be up as well tomorrow. Smugglers is following Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's PS trajectory pretty close. That movie opened to 184k admissions (Wed), had a 3-day FSS of 793k admissions and a 5-day of 1.09m. Obviously WOM will determine how much better or worse than that Smugglers will do but I don't think it will spell the end of Elemental's run. Bear in mind its OD may also be inflated by Culture Day so maybe it will underperform the BP comp because of that.
