So wait... A 135-137 million weeknd is now a success for a movie which was for months supposed to do 150 million in 6 days ? Kiss 300 million good bye now. This was always going to be the outcome. Decent reviews but even with more theaters, 3d and inflation it wont even come close to spider man 3, the previous worst performing movie of the franchise

Nah, there's John Carter and then there's TASM. Andrew Garfield is hanging himself right now, Marc Webb is drinking his own tears, and Emma Stone's head is spinning. Never before have we seen such a tremendous disaster in the medium of film. 7/3/12, the day film died, never forget.

By no means is the performance amazing but a ~275m run is within the realm of acceptability. Not sure why grossing less than Spidey 3 is something to be ashamed about when it had the 4th largest opening of all time. And I was mixed on the movie too.

Being serious for a second, how is Sony confident enough to bust out the sequels already? The production and marketing budgets are simply ridiculous for this movie. It will likely turn a profit at the WW box office but it can't be a very big one.

You said it had no buzz, yet it'll go on to make 135-137M with 270M+. Who's the joke again, fanboy?

It has no buzz, with 3d it will make as much as bb and superman returns adjusted for inflation.its not even hitting 300 million and cost 230 million to make. With inflation and 3d it cant even come close to the lowly spider man 3, that is troubling

I'm not sure where this 600-700M OS is magically going to appear when TASM has either equaled or fallen short of SM3 in basically every market it's opened in.

You're sadly mistaken.

The Amazing Spider-Man also got off to a strong $51.1 million start, most of which came from mighty debuts throughout Asia. The movie opened stronger than than Spider-Man 3 and The Avengers in South Korea ($13.4 million), and it was also impressive in Japan ($11.4 million). Thanks to the presence of Bollywood star Irrfan Khan,Spider-Man scored the biggest debut ever for a Hollywood movie with $6 million in India. It also had one of the best openings ever in the Philippines ($3.2 million), Hong Kong ($2.7 million), Singapore ($2.9 million) and Thailand ($1.9 million). Outside of Asia, its only major market was Germany, where it netted a comparatively-modest $4.2 million. The Amazing Spider-Man is set to open on Tuesday in the U.S., and it will likely be reaching the rest of its foreign markets over the next week or two.
