baumer
Emma Watson is definitely A-list.She's the reason Perks was able to get made.
baumer
If Lawrence was so A-list, House would have opened higher than it did and finish higher than it will. She's just an actress that got cast in a really popular story. If Hayden Pantierre had been cast in THG, would she now be A-list?

baumer
I don't think Reese is anymore and I think Streep has been for quite a while.
Gopher
I think the problem in debating this is pinpointing when and where careers aren't at the top of their game anymore, which is difficult, because people can quietly fade and others can break out after a few quieter years. For example, Witherspoon single-handedly opened movies like Sweet Home Alabama and Legally Blonde, but she doesn't seem to be headlining much anymore. On the other hand, Channing Tatum is in a position right now where I think he can open any movie, so he's going to be A-list material soon. Crusader
Tatum has insane potential I agree IF and that's a big IF he manages to keep at it for the next 3-5 years he's gonna make it One hell of a year behind him for sure

John Marston
how do you all feel about Damon, do you feel he deserves to be called A list?
Crusader
I guess he's A-list to a certain extent btw here's Tatum's big challenge - an action movie that stars him and top bills him also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_House_Down
The Toymaker
Damon is A-list, of course.Tatum is not.
A Marvel Fanboy
In terms of box office, Damon falls short of A lister, so is George Clooney.
Neo
Give Tatum til 2014 and he will be on the A-list.
The Toymaker
In terms of box office, Damon falls short of A lister, so is George Clooney. It's not only about box office, though, as I thought we made clear before. George Clooney has the tag "the last true Hollywood icon", and if that isn't an A-lister, then I don't know what is.
JackO
Mark Wahlberg is always forgotten in these discussions. He is on a hot streak right now with Ted, The Fighter, Contraband, Other Guys and Date Night. Got another January test with Broken City which looks great as well. JackO
Before Ironman, Downey is a C-list. Clooney can not open a movie well really, but somehow he is always considered A lister.Downey Jr. is A list now. He got pure garbage Due Date to 100M, and is lead of 2 monster franchises. He got disregarded. He's hot right now, but he's not A-list. Every director is not dying to work with him. Don't get me wrong, I love Wahlberg, so it's hard for me to say, but it's the truth. A Marvel Fanboy
Yes, Downey now is and that's why he is there. We forgot Tatum. He is more A lister than Gosling.
A Marvel Fanboy
Mark Wahlberg got paycheck 10M+ even back 10 years ago. He is more A l-ist than Christian Bale.
John Marston
Christian Bale should be no where near an A list listing
