Rudolf
Does everything depend on when the big Hollywood blockbusters are released?
Fullbuster
Forget 3B, few hollywood big movies can be released the next half year.Bilbo, Batman and Spiderman should do their work I think. And some smaller US movies.
A Marvel Fanboy
Overall box office in the first four months of 2011 increased about -4% compared to 2010. You didnt really get it, do you ?The government will think the increase is already enough, and they will limit the the releases of hollywood films and thus the increase of overall revenue will slow down, very down ... A Marvel Fanboy
Does everything depend on when the big Hollywood blockbusters are released?Of course. Only hollywood big movies can keep the theaters alive in China.
A Marvel Fanboy
Bilbo, Batman and Spiderman should do their work I think. And some smaller US movies.Probably, though the advertising and amount of HLW films are always limited.

A Marvel Fanboy
More Hollywood movies will be allowed this year and next years, twice more if I remember well. Not twice more, but 14 more. And that is in theory.
druv10
What kind of presales TA is having? What kind of OW is it looking at?
A Marvel Fanboy
Presales of TA looks not as better as MI4.
Fullbuster
Presales of TA looks not as better as MI4.MI4 = $107m, so Avengers can reach $100m

druv10
Presales of TA looks not as better as MI4.MI4 made over 100M so TA 80-90M or less?
A Marvel Fanboy
In that scenario, won't they then allow them through? In short, the box office share of foreign (hollywood) films must be controlled by the government. They need the box office market increasing to keep the theatres running (so they import HLW big movies), yet they also want the revenue share of foreign movies to stay no more than 50%(so they limit the advertising and amount of HLW films). You know, not easy job for them .... A Marvel Fanboy
MI4 made over 100M so TA 80-90M or less?Still hard to say. We cant tell until May 5.
vc2002
If TA can't make $100m, you can basically rule out any SH movies hitting it in China this year.
A Marvel Fanboy
Not really, if even TA can make it then all 3 will make it.
Rudolf
So the government would prefer a few big (as big as possible) HW-blockbusters and have the rest of the time for the Chinese movies?
