Some predictions for big releases in next two months:

 

---- 4.25 ----

Iceman ----- 400m~500m (big OW, huge 2nd week, horrible legs after holiday) movie is bad but it's got big cast one of the best dates out there.

My Old Classmate ----- 200m (thanks to holiday)

The Great Hypnotist ----- 400~500m (someone says it's very good a comedy and it stars Xu Zheng, so ...)

ASM2 ------ 500~600M

Coming Home ----- 300m+ (depending on quality/WOM)

X-MEN ----- 500~600m

Overheard 3 ---- 400m

Godzilla ------ 800m~1B (depending on quality and competition)

Edge of Tomorrow ----- 300~400m

TF4 ----- 1.5B~2B (depending on quality)

Dragon 2 ---- 400~500m (depending on quality)

---- protection month comes .... ----

I wonder if the inclusion of Fan Bingbing is going to significantly up the must-see factor of the movie...

Even if it does not, Fan BB will still make the movie's media exposure doubled. And Fox really should thank Miss Fan for insuring their biggest tentpole a Beijing premiere and a date-to-day release.

That's the spreading word at the moment. After the absence of Godzilla in May, Fox moved in with DOFP.  The date is still not sealed but it's very likely, for now.

 

Otherwise May would be too poor with only three (ASM2, CH, OH3) big releases. June is already so crowded with Godzilla, Dragon 2, Edge and TF4. There should be another big Hollywood release in July before 7.17. Then starts the summer protection month, which ends 8.15 with TE3.

 

Time in Summer, which means a lot of hollywood big movies coming, is limited and it has to handle them and equal numbers of local films meanwhile.  Legs for all those movies wont be pretty.

Wow big news...guess they're not coddling ZYM's new movie as much by allowing a big X Men movie to open a week after.  Marvel properties (not necessarily Marvel Studio, I know) are on a roll from Cap to Spidey to X if that's the case.

Agreed it will OWN the holidays.  But why not just give Godzilla the 23rd date, a week later than planned and move X to after Dragonboat...unless truly the intention is to aid X (FBB factor?).

Iceman 3D will have 32k showtimes on Friday,CA2 will maintain 9.5k.,If it make 25M this weekend, it has a shot of 700M yuan finish.

1. They realized May would be too weak after Godzilla was pulled. (And Godzilla is too big in between CH and OH3; DOFP would do smaller damage than Godzilla.).  2.FBB definitely played a big factor.
