All I meant was that this is more of a history lesson than entertainment.

You don't find history to be fascinating?Maybe that's why you didn't like this movie. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, as everyone has different interests, but it just means this movie wasn't for you.

It's certainly a little slow at points, but it's still a completely enthralling film. I'd have no problem with this winning Best Picture.

The fact that Daniel Day Lewis fully transforms into Abraham Lincoln is absolutely amazing. The guy couldn't give a bad performance if his life depended on it. Having said that, the entire ensemble was amazing: Levitt, Field, Strathairn, and especially Jones were at the top of their game here.

The film is the true definition of "history coming to life." Spielberg masterfully transports its audience to the time period through excellent filmmaking, and every scene is Congress was unbelievably exciting and incredible to watch. (The TLJ clip Gopher posted earlier in this page is exactly what I'm talking about.) These scenes were near-perfect in my eyes.

Spielberg, Day Lewis, and Abe Lincoln seemed like a combo too good to be true, but lo and behold, it's absolutely true.
