ScareLol
TLK wins the weekend and Padre No Hay Más Que Uno debuts with the second best OW for an Spanish film this year (after Lo Dejo Cuando Quiera). Hobbs & Shaw undeperforms a bit Edited August 5, 2019 by ScareLol
peludo
That seems a way bigger drop than I had calculated for TLK. If the cume reported yesterday is true ($28.1m), that would mean that weekdays have been amazing and competition released this weekend has really hurt it.

ScareLol
Pre-sales for tomorrow with 5 new releases: Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark (5 Shows): 11 tickets sold Pet Sematary sold 10 tickets and did 809K so the comparison puts Scary Stories with 890K. I can see that because the film is heavily advertised here and Guillermo del Toro is a draw here even if he is producing. This could breakout because since Annabelle horror has been muted (Midsommar underperformed hard) and Crawl is being released in two weeks. 900K OW Pets 2 (17 shows): 53 tickets sold Best comp here is HTTYD 3 with 124 tickets sold and 2.47M OW so the comp puts Pets 2 with 1.05M but this is too low because summer is pretty walk-up heavy. Pets 1 did €4.05M 3 years ago but the franchise fell off a cliff everywhere. Italy fell an astounding 74% and France drop was a 34%. Let's put a 45% drop comparing the first and Pets 2 does a €2.25M OW. Ibiza (5 Shows): 0 tickets sold French film being released in a lot of theaters (120 as of now) so we can expect low top 10 for the film if the PTA isn't terrible. With 500€ PTA, the film debuts with 60K OW. Lola et ses frères (2 Shows): 0 tickets sold Small french film - Out of Top 10 Mon Inconnue (4 Shows): 0 tickets sold Another french film - Out Of Top 10 3

peludo
If TLK's total is really $33m, as it was announced yesterday in TLK OS thread, weekdays are dropping way better than weekends. 2nd week Weekdays: €6.0m Weekend: €4.5m Cume: €18.5m 3rd week Weekdays: €4.2m (-30%) Weekend: €2.2m (-51%) Cume: €24.9m 4th week Weekdays: €3.3m (estimated) (-21%) Weekend: €1.3m (estimated) (-41%) Cume: €29.5m (estimated) Edited August 12, 2019 by peludo
peludo
After this weekend, TLK has entered in top 10, over Endgame, which was at #10. The top 10 is right now: * Both gross and admissions figures of TLK are estimated TLK is locked to outgross LOTR and TFA. And I think it has a chance to beat Ocho apellidos catalanes and become the 5th biggest film ever. €36m would imply a bit over 6 million admissions, very similar to what animated film did (6.3 million). 2 1
Omni
Is it normal in Spain to have the weekdays grossing 50% more than the previous weekend? It requires the average gross on weekdays to be above the average gross on weekend days.

Summer is obviously a season which weekdays are better than rest of the year, but this case seems really curious.

One of the causes I'm thinking is that Cinesa (biggest cinema chain in Spain) is giving coupons to return to cinema for 4.90 euros. For example, you go on Friday and you can go for 4.90 the next Monday to Friday with the coupon

ScareLol
Pre-sales for tomorrow with 3 new releases: 47 Meters Down 2 (5 Shows): 0 tickets sold The first one did 214K and this is going to do worse seeing USA tracking for the film. 150K OW (3-day), 175K (4-day) Les Estivants (4 Shows): 0 tickets sold Another French film that's being released in 52 cinemas. Out of Top 10 Once Upon A Time In Hollywod (11 Shows): 483 tickets sold This is simply great. Aladdin for example sold 379 tickets (it was a Friday). This will be frontloaded for sure but for a nearly 3 hour slow burn film this looks like a breakout. 4th widest release of the year after The Lion King, Aladdin and Toy Story too. Inglorious Bastards did €2.8M 10 years ago and Once Upon is looking to beat that number. I'm going to be bold and say €3.25M (3-day), €4.30M (4-day) OW
