peludo
So what is the 2012 cume as we speak? I guess 2012 will be under 2011 given the crisis but I'm not so sure about it.I do not have the exactly data, but I think it is slightly lower than 2011's. We will see if Hobbit is able to recover the lost difference. TH can make alone higher numbers than the top50 aggregated of 3 last weekends of 2011: 9.7, 8.2, 7.9 million
peludo
how is "Hobbit hype lookingMonstruous. I think it will beat OW record. And it can be the first movie reaching 10 million € in a 3-day weekend (about 13 million $).

peludo
Monstruous?where?in my city presales are very weak.Maybe that is not an objective adjective, but a sensation. I speak about my environment and some Spanish forums. Most of people who I know are going to see the movie. Many of them more than once, and they are not loonies. I must confess I do not have data about presales, so it is just a personal sensation. I had never heard in my environment so many people talking about a movie, but I do not have objective data to show it. I was curious about screen 25 from Kinepolis in Madrid (996 seats), and it is already at 95% on Friday, 90% on Saturday and about 75% on Sunday, but I think that is not very representative given that screen has always sellouts. But the other screen of that complex are about 50-60% full and there are still 2 days until release.Anyway, presales represent, overall, hard fans, but I think many people will wait to see this at Christmas. peludo
What is the current OW record, peludo? BD2€9.21M($11.9M)It has been beaten twice in one month: The Impossible did it on October 14th, with 8.97 million €, and 5 weeks later, BD2 did 9.21 million €, as efialtes76 has said. If Hobbit gets it, OW record would have been broken three times in two months.

peludo
So didn't break OW record after all.... didn't even come close.Indeed. It has done the same first weekend than ROTK (and ROTK opened on Wednesday), but about 450,000 admissions lower. It is headed to about 25 milion € (33 million $), maybe a bit more. peludo
You predicted 50m, I guess it's a disappointmentIn the beginning I had this at 40, because of the shameful Spanish market behaviour, but The Impossible made me believe. I was a dreamer and you cannot do that in box office predictions . In my opinion, 27 million € (35 million $) would be a great result, and it is reachable with a x4.5 multiplier. It would enter into top 10 all time, if I am not wrong. But we need to see holds. For the moment I say a bit less, 25 M €.
rockNrollaDIM
Box office for The Impossible is just stunning :blink:Could double the US gross? Triple? Are they pushing it at all in the US other than for awards?
