zackzack
A Good Day To Die Hard earned $61.5million, pushing its overseas total to $80.1 million. Globally, theaction flick is up to $113.4 million. Key stats from Fox: Commanding the #1 market position in 32 out of 37 new openers (#1 MPAtitle in an additional 4 markets), ... $61.5 million? Isn't that about double the $33 million it opened internationally over the same no. of territories in 2007? Tower
$61.5 million? Isn't that about double the $33 million it opened internationally over the same no. of territories in 2007? It opened in more territories this time, DH4 didn't include UK+Spain+Italy+SK+some smaller markets.
mcclaine
The Hobbit opened with $138m. We are talking about THE HOBBIT!! So, Die Hard 5, with horrible reviews and WOM pulling an opening of $80m i think is huge.
Tower
The Hobbit opened with $138m. We are talking about THE HOBBIT!! So, Die Hard 5, with horrible reviews and WOM pulling an opening of $80m i think is huge. 1) DH5 made 60M for the weekend, 80M is the total. 2) Hobbit was a pre-holiday release, so it still managed to make over 100M in its third weekend. So that is not a good comparison. Edited February 17, 2013 by Tower
mcclaine
Ok, my bad, you are right, $60m. I still think is a very good number for a fifth installment of a tired franchise with bad reviews.

IndustriousAngel
I think this will burn quickly, WOM seems to be toxic. A the start of the weekend it looked like 700k admissions for Germany, now the final result seems to be about 525k, not even nr.1 - must have steep drops from opening day. Fake
41% drop. But if you take out new openers, it is around 57%. Australia and China have yet to open, so 200m will be cleared comfortably, but matching last one's OS total seems out of reach, unless China explodes. Fake
I can see China making up the difference Current markets+Australia will probably finish at 200m. I doubt China makes 50m.... but who knows?
zackzack
I can see China making up the difference With JOURNEY TO THE WEST winding down, I could see this doing $40-50 mill. There is no big movie in the horizon, and Asians love Hollywood action movies especially with big budget. FF6 & PAC RIM should do huge business.
