  1. Damn. Should have stuck with my gut with Maze Runner. I had it pegged for a low 20s opening weekend until the very last minute.
  2. Why does everyone have such a hard-on for Shane Black? I don't get it...
  3. Pros: solid action, great chemistry between Garfield and Stone Cons: weak villains, CGI, score B-
  4. If you're big into YA adaptations or if this is the first YA adaptation you've seen, you'll probably like this movie. For me, it was a bland, derivative bore. Woodley is good. Other than that, there's not much to say about it.
  5. I don't think Raimi's Spider-Man series holds up well at all.
  6. Sucks, because the source material here is so much better than those other YA flops.
  7. Depp doesn't get hate because he gets paid a lot for his roles. He gets hate because he hasn't been in anything good in years.
  8. This was one of the worst flops ever financially. I doubt anyone is going to touch this series again. Not sure why it flopped so badly, though. I thought it was pretty solid, as far as YA book adaptations go.
  9. Another movie that doesn't hold up when it's not on the big screen. The effects: A+ Rest of the film: C Final grade: B-
  10. I'm changing my predictions to: Apes Interstellar Hobbit 3 GOTG Exodus I loved Edge of Tomorrow, but it'll be forgotten by Oscar season sadly.
  11. It has an Oscar-friendly release date. It's a big-budget Chris Nolan movie about interstellar travel and exploring new planets. Why wouldn't it be a front runner?
  12. Thinking about it, the tonal shifts didn't really bother me. They seemed natural for the most part. Ronan was one-note and uninteresting, but he was serviceable in moving the plot forward. In other words, he was your typical Marvel villain. What did bother me a little was how quickly the ensemble went from hating each other to risking everything for one another. The Kevin Bacon reference was funny, but I didn't feel like that romantic scene between Gamora and Starlord was earned whatsoever. And this is just a dumb nitpick, but the Collector's "aid" was awful. I... will... no... longer... be... your... slave!!!!
  13. I don't understand why characters making bad decisions is a knock against the movie. Misunderstanding and characters making bad decisions are what make tragedies run. Still the best blockbuster of the summer for me.
  14. And I didn't get the Interstellar trailer. Damn you, Regal.
  15. I enjoyed it, but it didn't leave enough of a lasting impression on me to where I'm going to type out a long review for it. So it gets a B.
  16. 1. The Dark Knight 2. Inception 3. Memento 4. The Prestige 5. The Dark Knight Rises 6. Batman Begins 7. Insomnia Never seen The Following.
