  1. http://variety.com/2014/film/news/zurich-film-festival-to-honor-composer-hans-zimmer-1201256021/ The Zurich Film Festival is to honor composer Hans Zimmer with a special lifetime award. Composer Hans Zimmer Michael Lewis for Variety July 1, 2014 | 05:32AM PT Leo Barraclough MUNICH — The Zurich Film Festival is to honor composer Hans Zimmer with a special lifetime award. The award will be presented on Oct. 1 at the Tonhalle Zurich at a ceremony that will feature excerpts from some of Zimmer’s scores, such as those for “The Lion King” and “Gladiator.” German-born Zimmer has scored more than 100 films, which have, combined, grossed over $22 billion at the box office. He has won an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, three Grammys and a Tony. He received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010. Some of his most recent works include “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” “12 Years a Slave,” Ron Howard’s “Rush,” Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel,” the Christopher Nolan-directed films “Inception,” “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises,” and Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.” Some of Zimmer’s most notable works include “Rain Main,” “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Thelma & Louise,” “The Thin Red Line,” “Mission: Impossible II,” “Hannibal,” the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, the “Kung Fu Panda” and “Madagascar” films, “Frost/Nixon” and “The Da Vinci Code.” Zimmer is in production on the score for Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar,” which is releasing in November. Congratulations to Hans for a lifetime of sumptuous, culture defining ear-sex!!!
  2. Revenge of the Fallen scored 14M+ on its first Monday, and it has amassed 200M before then. And seeing how that film went on to gross 202M from there, all signs point to nothing this summer scoring 300M overall.
  3. MOTB can always be counted on to give at least two worthwhile matches, even if the rest of the card is Ass on a Stick. Still, I doubt we'll be seeing a card as good as 2011 anytime soon. COME BACK, PUNK!!!
  4. Nolan is awesome with characters of all genders. Selina Kyle and Rachel Dawes were more fleshed out, fully developed, 3 dimensional, and proactive than any female I've ever seen in any film that wasn't given top billing. SOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!! Cameron wishes he had half the talent! I can't wait for this to blow people's minds in November. BOW DOWN WHEN THE KING COMES TO YOUR TOWN!!!
  5. Make a sh*tty movie with a bland premise cashing on a market that the atrocious Alice in Wonderland started 4 years ago? I agree, he's far too talented to lower himself to that standard. Among a cast of cardboard cutouts And still felt padded
  6. With a weekend barely making 100M and toxic WOM, this might not actually be the highest domestic grosser of the summer. My previous prediction might be wrong...
  7. Leo may have been a big star, but Inception was, by far, his biggest film in well over a decade. Outside of Cameron's film, Catch and Django are the only other two films of his career to even exceed 150M, so it's pretty clear that other factors, such as Nolan, played a far greater role. Sam Worthington isn't a big name either, but there's little doubt that Avatar 2,3 and 4 will make huge bank.
  8. Raiders: ****1/2 Temple: **3/4 Temple: **** Skull: **
  9. Considering that the previous two installments grossed 108M and 97M with two previous days bleeding out some of the weekend business, I'd say it is unimpressive for this series and a sign that it's going to fall off a cliff.
  10. Following: ****1/4 Memento: ***** Insomnia: **** Batman Begins: ****3/4 Prestige: ****3/4 The Dark Knight: ***** Inception: ***** Dark Knight Rises: ****
  11. Better than anything Michael Bay has ever had his name attached too/10
  12. Looks like another sh*t film from the aborted fetus of Hollywood.
  13. Pi: ****1/2 Requiem for a Dream: ****3/4 The Fountain: *** The Wrestler: ***** Black Swan: ****1/2 Noah: ***1/2
  14. Shaun of the Dead: ****3/4 Hot Fuzz: ***3/4 Scott Pilgrim: ****1/2 The World's End: ****1/4
  15. Following: ****1/4 Memento: ***** Insomnia: **** Batman Begins: ****3/4 Prestige: ****3/4 The Dark Knight: ***** Inception: ***** Dark Knight Rises: ****
  16. WOW! Dark Knight, Inception, Memento. "EVERYTHING'S COMING UP NOLAN!!!"
  17. ***3/4 out of ***** While it's my least favorite Edgar Wright film and not nearly as re-watchable as the other 3 he's done, there's no denying that it's a slickly put together, well executed parody film.
  18. Actually, since Cap came out in April, that would technically mean that the highest grossing summer (May 1st and on) film thus far is DOFP. Wow, not a good summer overall.
  19. Which would make Cap 2 the lowest grossing top summer tent pole film in 14 years.
  20. Fun music numbers with good performances (mostly) Grating characters with bad performances (Mostly) sloppy, padded screenplay. And... Pierce... UUuuuuuuuuggghhhhh! **1/2 out of ***** Definitely a film that is not more than the sum of its parts.
  21. He directed his second film, it was lackluster, so he's on the list: http://forums.boxoffice.com/index.php?/topic/4439-the-dark-knight-rises/?p=1022787 If it makes you feel any better, Gareth Edwards just got added as well.
