The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo
keysersoze123 replied to grim22's topic in Numbers and Data
I quickly glanced at showtimes in NYC and while theater count is huge, show count not so much. Most plexes have spidey on 2 shows(evening) and while morning shows going to Toy Story 4. It has 3 shows Lincoln Square Imax except prime time 7PM show which has gone to Once Upon a time in hollywood. Definitely its going to have a mediocre PTA(as will Toy Story 4) but fan base could still check out the 4 minutes boosting the gross this weekend. Could Spidey gross like 5m over 4 days? Toy Story could do like 2-3m over 4 days but as I said earlier it has no milestones to aim for. So I wonder why Disney expanded it so much. -

huge expansions for Spidey and Toy Story. Spidey is going for a big push for 400m with additional scene. How is disney going to market Toy Story 4. That has no benchmark left to gross at this point. -

IT Chapter 2 AMC Empire 25. With just 2 weeks to go I wanted to take a status check on where things stand. Dolby and Prime prime time shows have sold good amount of ticket otherwise things are still dire. -

Midnights look huge for H&S. Almost 30m. May be PS multi will be huge for this and we still see 250m OD. -

it does matter where it ends as it already exceeded expectations big time without major help from China. -

IT Chapter 2 AMC Empire 25 Almost a week later and still barely sold anything since last week. Almost nothing on 2D. Overall not expecting much until week of release. At this point its not looking like a big increase is happening. -

it would have happened if it did not suck so much. That has been the power of this brand. Meh film grossing so much money. If it had JB level of reviews/reception it would have grossed 2B WW. -

I looked at IT 2 at AMC Empire 25 after a week and I dont see a huge movement. This needs a push via a new trailer plus prominently marketed at Fandango/Atom etc. That said it has huge amount of shows(34 overall). So if it accelerates close to release it should still have huge previews. -
The Boys: Amazon Prime SuperHero series.

finished season 1. Excellent show for sure but annoying they dont close story arcs but just finish it as a cliffhanger. -
Movies are not the biggest factor. Disney stock moved big time once details of Disney + was released.

27% drop from last week. It should have a great hold this weekend .

high RT, great audience reception, good legs. Awful record for Nolan!!! No director works for everyone. if you dont like his style good for you. I found several well reviewed Marvel movies MEH(including the 2 Spidey movies recently). But I will not call them failures. Nolan is batting 1.0 from overall. Just go to twitter or any social media/forum to see the excitement from showing almost nothing. he is the biggest director in hollywood who can inspire such confidence without making franchise movies.
