  1. I'm starting to think that the moviegoers who gave Frozen its legs are the same ones giving Wonder Woman its legs.
  2. Once in a generation? Hardly. Avatar came out the very next year. Inception was two years later. Frozen was five years later. TFA was seven years later.
  3. Is Josh Gad taking all of Jonah Hill's roles nowadays? They are two distinct actors, aren't they?
  4. Holy cow! That was one creepy and, dare I say, frightening trailer. I didn't know what trailer I was watching and it looked like some typical kid film at the beginning and then bam! This trailer is going to scare audiences like no other this year, especially given the numerous scary clown sightings last year. Kudos to the marketing and editing team for a masterful job with that trailer.
  5. I have not seen the first trailer but I did see the second one and there is nothing remotely interesting about it. It's your standard story of humans and a foreign planet. I'm also trying to tie this film back to the previous Ripley and Prometheus films. It doesn't seem to mesh with the other films. Is it a reboot or are moviegoers just supposed to believe these characters have no knowledge of the events from any of the previous films, much like the Friday the 13th series?
  6. Considering that plenty of people in the US want to return to some fantasy land in their minds about how life in America was back in the 1940s and 50s, I stand by my opinion of how or why different people could appreciate the film.
  7. As a whole, 2007 was a bad year for films with not many I truly liked. However, my top five of the year are some of my favorite films from the first decade of this century. I will stop and watch any of them if I find them on while channel flipping. 1. There Will Be Blood 2. Zodiac 3. Ratatouille 4. Gone Baby Gone 5. Michael Clayton
  8. Don't films that focus heavily on black Americans fare poorly at foreign box offices? I'm not talking about films starring Will Smith or Denzel Washington. I meant films like Straight Outta Compton, Think Like a Man or any Madea movie. Not only that but films dealing with American history are tough sales overseas even without the racial and female driven story components. That being said, Hidden Figures is a wonderful film that everyone should see, especially every American. It's incredibly inspiring for liberals and it champions American patriotism for conservatives.
  9. In news nobody will care about, it looks like Monster Trucks will outgross Patriots Day. Who would have guessed that two months ago?
  10. TDK did play in the few original flavor IMAX screens available in 2008. I saw it in one of them and it was glorious apart from the screen size changes that occurred whenever an IMAX filmed scene started and ended.
  11. There are at least 4-5 things in that synopsis which have me running far away from this film.
  12. Please delete if the language is a violation of forum rules but I thought everyone here would appreciate this story from the senior entertainment editor at The Daily Beast.
  13. I'm surprised the Star Wars fandom didn't start a GoFundMe for this. The page would only need to be active for a minute or so to meet the goal.
  14. Has a consensus been reached on whether or not Arrival reaches $100M? Seems like it will fall short as I think Oscar nomination legs will be very short to non-existent for it.
  15. That $90M third weekend for TFA will remain atop this list for a very long time. The fact that the number immediately to its right is below 10% is just simply absurd.
  16. Until it actually reaches $586M, it is impossible. It's a simple binary situation.
  17. It will probably fall short but Rogue One hitting $17M on Thursday would be a solid intro for the weekend.
  18. My favorite Christmas movie memory involves my family taking my grandmother (in her 60s at the time) to see Mrs. Doubtfire. She loved it and laughed hysterically throughout the film. Definitely an entertaining film for all ages. Broad comedies like that are great to see in a crowded theater on Christmas.
  19. It's been safe to say Pratt is not a draw. He is not responsible for driving the success of his two big hits. You could have swapped him with any other young/youngish actor (say Kellan Lutz, for instance) and those two films would have performed the same. Lawrence, on the other hand, is a bit of a draw when she is the star. Joy - a movie about a damn mop - made over $50M. She was undeniably the best thing about Silver Linings Playbook and she remains the most memorable character in American Hustle. She is firmly positioned to be the next female superstar as Hathaway and Portman have not stepped up to fill the vacuum. Lawrence has several big hits ahead of her while Pratt only has animated or maybe buddy cop films ahead of him once he's done with dinosaurs and spaceships.
