Maybe but still not likely. It's nearly the end of school year in schools, colleges and universities so young people might be not that enthusiastic about movies.
Thursday estimates1. The Dictator 452,0002. The Avengers 387,0003. Dark Shadows 355,0004. Lockout 276,0005. The Lucky One 71,000More numbers, current totals and weekend projections should be later on kinometro. l
Actually it's kinda weird. Distributor reported 1 mln RUB on Thursday and only 5mln RUB for the entire weekend. But the multiplyer here should be somewhere between 10-12. It's only $726 per screen but theater reports and available numbers for 2 or 3 major theater chains suggest much higher gross. At least between 1300-1500 per screen. Our independent distributors sometimes can do very strange things. Some of them were even several times accused in underreporting box office grosses.
Every big movie normally drops 60%+ on week 3. And every next week too. No matter what. Pirates of the Caribbean dropped by 64%, Harry Potter 8 by 64%, Transformers 3 by 66%, Breaking Dawn by 71%, Hunger Games by 76%. How you could make 10mln more with 2-2.5mln 3rd weekend and less than 1m 4th? Men in Black will 3 take all the screens on May 24th. And there are 7 wide releases this week.
It looks really fishy. You remember that last week also with a working Saturday The Avengers had only 4.5-4.6 multiplyer. Nothing changed. People are still at work, kids and teens are in school. The guy form kinometro predicted $5.5-6 mln after $1.05m Thursday and he was rather optimistic.
Weekend multiplyer on 2nd week or 3rd week has nothing to do with good or bad WoM. Don't be stupid. Otherwise you could say that Tyler Perry's Good Deeds has better WOM than the Avengers. Just because it had higher Saturday increase.
Around $7.2-7.3 with nearly 7multiplyer. Have no any idea how it could be possible with a working Saturday. The only good explanation is that Disney is fudging numbers to have 1 billion worldwide.
The better example would be Battleship. Safe is a hardcore action but the Avengers and Battleship are working with broad audience. So 5.5-6 multiplyer is likely here even with working Saturday.
Well, at least it will have $1000+ per screen average this weekend without any marketing and advertising. 4 wide releases last week couldn't manage even that. In a weekend with normal Saturday it could gross up to $500,000 or even more. And that would be pretty good. I cant remember european live action family movie doing that good. A few released here before bombed terribly. And official weekend number for The Avengers went down a bit to 441,158,273
Unfortunately I haven't seen any of these. I saw some ZDF Weihnachtsserien but they started only in late 70-s. I enjoyed very much Jack Holborn and Silas. Also bought from Iceland Nonni und Manni. The others unfortunately are not available in English.
It was never released here on VHS or DVD. Many people read those books but for now this 1968 mini series is totally forgotten here. As well as many other american or british Tom Sawyer films. I tried to read some reviews on german sites and they were mostly good. So I actually recommended to buy the movie for theatrical release here.
A friend of mine posted that The Avengers grossed another 35 mln RUB on Thursday. I rather curious about Tom Sawyer. I know it's a lost cause but still i hope i will gross some money here.
It is more or less usual for those long weekends. Monday grosses usually better than Sunday. Kind of mentality here I guess. If you have three of four days out for work, first day you are just relaxing, more or less doing nothing. But on the second or third day people are ready to go somewhere.
Updated numbers including Monday. Everything dropped a bit. Have no idea why. Maybe that Putin thing damaged box ofiice.
The Avengers grossed 600 mln Rub in 5 days ($20.5m) and 664 mln RUB ($22.7m) including previews.
