Well this puts the debate to rest. Marvel is hands down the king of box office. Releasing a Star Wars film just 5 months after a previous one was too much (among other reasons). I did just get back from seeing it and there was only 7 people in the theatre. I enjoyed it though!

That Deadpool 2 drop though is unbelievably rough! If thats true its actually going to make a huge loss.

To be honest they just keep revisiting the same things in Star Wars. I want new characters and settings.

I would not trust these projections. Deadpool and Infinity War with only 90% increases against a mid sized opener in Solo seems low

Deadpool hurt from losing its premium screens. Something which happened to Infinity War last week.

Plenty of Japanese animated films have done well in China. They are 2nd biggest consumer of anime in the world only behind Japan. -
It looks great with the exception of the snake and tiger. The kid actor seems really promising.

When I saw 300m I thought that was huge. What did the first one open to? Why were ppl hoping for 350m? -
For ones that have big Saturdays which then cause spillover. This should have a more standard 30-35% Sunday drop. The first Deadpool had on average drops of 35-40%

Fox projecting a 133.5m seems like the high end. 125m seems more likely. They are just trying to get some free headlines of highest R rated debut before better projections come in.
