  1. Notice how Gimli's father saved Legolas' life during the barrel chase? Nice! haha. If only Legolas knew...
  2. Knowing that it's coming doesn't make it easier to wait a year...at least for me.
  3. Just because I understand the rationale and even knew it was coming, doesn't make waiting any easier.
  4. Hard to believe Aviator was nominated 11 times, winning 5. It was good but not THAT good.
  5. No one has mentioned Spielberg as the greatest living Director.... Just counting post-2000 work, you'd put Russell, Coen Bros, Tarantino and Scorsese above Spielberg??
  6. LOL...how does this have it's own forums? Only 4 movies. LOL
  7. Saw Hobbit 2. Enthusiastic crowd. We really enjoyed the Nut Job trailer because it was an obvious play off of The Hobbit and LOTR. Hilarious. Anyway, there were a couple of claps when Legolas made an appearance and for some of his swordplay.
  8. for those who attempted to describe the teaser. We were waaaay off. :-D
  9. Pros: Superior to Hobbit I. I really enjoyed Tauriel, the newest addition to the Tolkien universe. The romance between her and Kili was done very well and quite effective. By this time around, I was more accepting of the comedic scenes with the Dwarves as they bumble around and just happen to land in the right place (or barrel) at the right time. I enjoyed this movie alot more because I didn't take it as seriously. This is not the LOTR trilogy. I'm ok with that. I always enjoy it when the Istari show off their power and Mithrandir (gandalf) did not disappoint. We got to see new staff powers (proximity repellent, flash w/ teleportation, force field) and more of the old (small explosions used to dislodge rocks). The tension when Bilbo first encountered a sleeping Smaug. Cons: the CGI was at times horrible, especially during the barrel chase. No better than the LOTR trilogy. ILM remains the top FX shop and this was a reminder that WETA lags behind. Beorn's scenes were underwhelming, seemed like filler. Same for some of the Laketown scenes. Should have been on the cutting floor or in the extended editions. I hate cliffhangers where I have to wait an entire year. Overall I give it an A.
  10. Apparently Scorsese is going to direct a couple more and then retire. Perhaps Silence will finally get made. You know he's big-time when there is an AUTO-CORRECT function for Martin's last name.
  11. Is David O Russell the greatest director working today??
  12. I just found out Frozen was CGI and not traditional (I haven't seen any advertisements, just low-res youtube clips of "Let it Go"). Ugh...I'm still waiting for the traditional animation renaissance.
  13. Listen to 3:10 and then 34:52. LOL. He doesn't even try to mask the similiarities. The first is for one of the POTC movies and the second is for Crysis 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUHWrpjGVkg&feature=share&list=PL_zQh8JG13DE2s2SMmEYNhnmFCX5JuC8t&index=28
  14. Silly question but I don't watch TV so I have not seen any Frozen trailers. Just pictures. Is it CGI or traditional animation?
  15. I thought Princess and the Frog was well-received?
  16. Someone before you will name a director and you have to lay out his/her strengths and weaknesses You then write a director for the next person. I'll start... Joseph Kosinski Pluses: great vision, his films always look beautiful Minus: not good with getting great performances out of his actors Steven Spielberg
  17. With little competition and two lucrative 3-day weekends coming up. $300m is in play.
  18. I've said before, CF would start to look like the 2013 Winner from 5th weekend onward. Don't panic. IM3 is going down. That's a lock.
