  1. Meryl Streep was fantastic in Hope Springs, if she campaigned last time she would easily get that nomination
  2. I really like that the Make Up & Hairstyle branch don't really give a damn if the movie has bad reviews or reputation and they focus on craft Except for the song I don't know, the Original Song nominees are strong. Let It Go has tough competition with U2
  3. Go Cambodia! Team Southeast Asia FTW! Really glad Before Midnight was not snubbed in Screenplay even if it was not a BP player. Lone Survivor's sound nominations are deserving as well
  4. Sad for the snubs of Hanks, Thompson, Bruhl, SMB and MU. The Lone Ranger is a dull movie but the visual effects nomination is deserving, the 2 set pieces were fantastic
  5. Ray Subers is too busy tweeting

  8. Wolf of Wall Street R-18 (no cuts) is showing at the following theaters: Trinoma, Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3, Alabang Town Center, Market! Market!, Promenade, Gateway Cineplex, Robinsons Galleria, Marquee Mall, Harbor Point Subic, Ayala Cebu, Abreeza Mall Davao, Gaisano Davao and Centrio Mall Cagayan De Oro
  9. The Wolf of Wall Street opens tomorrow and it has 2 versions, R-16 with cuts on SM and R-18 with no cuts in other theaters Also opening tomorrow: Grudge Match (watched it via press screening and I really had a great time), Jack Ryan (will screen in IMAX) and Bride for Rent. Will likely be a strong weekend in the box office. Hopefully BOM updates PH numbers soon
  10. Saw August and it was OK, not bad as I thought after reading stuff here but it's not really memorable. Julia is the MVP for me though, she's really good here. Streep is compelling as always but not really a fan of her work here, she was so much better in Hope Springs, wish that one had Oscar buzz last year, I consider that her best performance in years
  11. I like Joaquin but I wouldn't be surprised if the GA thinks he is still a weirdo. The documentary he made little buzz at all especially compared to the noise the weirdness of the Letterman interview created. I won't be surprised if people still see him as that guy and won't be enticed to watch a movie of him
  12. WOW at LS! Good for Frozen and Banks! Osage did well especially for under 1K screens. Her was too wide, too soon. They should have waited after Oscar nods to expand it to more theaters
  13. Frozen is back in SM Megamall. SM Marikina and Powerplant Hobbit 2 returns in 2D format in Glorietta 4, Trinoma, SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Manila, SM Sta. Mesa and Robinsons Galleria; and in 35MM format in Festival Mall and Eastwood.
  14. Great for LS! I almost typed first 100M for 2014 then I remember it had a limited release in December
  15. Worried for The Muppets Most Wanted, I hope it will still do well
  16. Celine Dion was everywhere in the 90s. I got sick of My Heart Will Go On but when I watched the Titanic 3D re-release, had goosebumps when I heard it
  17. When Titanic came out I was just 10 and I was still ignorant with the Internet so my experience was really just on a local level and this was really a big box office phenomenon here in the Philippines. My mother who only watches local movies in the theater watched Titanic in the theater. Everytime we are in the mall, there are still lines for Titanic. It was everywhere. And it lasted in theater for like 8 months which something that will never happen here again.
