Magic Mike is my bet for next week, the hype is huge, feels like this is an "event movie" for women like the first Sex and the City movie wasTed on the other hand is something that would appeal to the young men demo, you know the ones that watches Seth's animated shows so I think it should do well

Well after the insanely high rating for Toy Story 3 and the ridiculously low (for Pixar) rating for Cars 2, a middling reception for their next effort was to be expected. Anyway, glad it's still fresh though, too bad I have to wait for Aug.1 to see this movie here I gave Cars 2 the benefit of the doubt but when I saw it I had to agree with the reviews. Let's see with Brave, I really feel this is a good one

The first one was a word of mouth hit, plus no major competition this time since Rock of Ages and Lockout are not that big, can't wait to see the numbers when BOM finally updates the indexAnyway, NO NEW MOVIE releases this week! I guess no distributor had the guts since the run will be cut short because of TASM next week.In other news, Brave still set for August

HAHA! When I watched Madagascar 3, I didn't see that one but I saw it when I watched Snow White. It's going to be shown here on August and reportedly with no cuts

Yup but it's more on a personal level since his taste in movies (mainstream ones that is) is most of the time in line with my taste

He is my favorite critic, so I'm glad he liked it

As always for Disney and Pixar movies, we are always months behind

Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages is not a glorified cameo, but he's technically not the lead but he had a lot of scenes in the movie and the movie is kinda marketed making him a centerpiece.Shocked with That's My Boy

August 1 is the tentative release date here. Agree with Madagascar 3, it's a visually stunning movie especially the circus scenes. Anyway, I hope Brave's RT score will improve , sucks to see at 64% now

Cars 2 opened the flood gates definitely. If let's say Up opened after Cars 2 I bet it would be getting this "scrutiny" as well

For Best Animated Film, never count out the indie animated films GKIDS will be releasing. they did manage to get two spots this year with Chico and Rita and A Cat in Paris. There's also this buzzed animated movie in Cannes "Ernest & Celestine" which could be a challenger as well

We get every major blockbuster here in the Philippines almost the same period as the major markets except for Disney-Pixar films in which we are always 2 to 3 months behind

We get tons of trailers here, like 10-20 minutes worth

I'm not familiar with the source material but I find the movie over the top although it is very entertaining. Hough and Boneta are both charming on screen but Hough's voice in some of the songs didn't work for me. Catherine Zeta Jones started awkward with the over acting but she got better towards the end. Cruise fits the role I must say, crowd definitely loved him. Claps when the movie ended. B

True, especially with the Cars 2 performance, the backlash is greater than ever. And I think in a way it will affect how critics will assess Brave. But anyway the responses are generally good just not meeting the lofty expectations by fans and haters skeptics so far

Just saw it, very fun movie to watch. Kids (and kids at heart) will totally love this one. Oh I know a lot of you here hate the Afro Circus bit but it works well with kids. It's a visually appealing movie. Glad to see this doing well in the box office and while before I said that Dreamworks should have kept the original May date, moving it to June worked for it as Avengers was such a phenomenon that it could have affected the movie's BO but releasing it in June worked for it, it had the family audience by itself

^ The Avengers is already on its 7th week here which is impressive since most movies here even the hit ones only last 4-5 weeks but I don't think it will earn enough to cross 15 million due to loss of theaters
