Are you guys comparing the original Ghostbusters (1984) to the current reboot? The '84 version made $229M domestic and was a major hit, second only to Beverly Hills Cop for the yearly crown by a measly $5M. It beat Indiana Jones 3 by a wide margin. (1984 was a damn good year for movies. ☺) GB's inflation-adjusted total is $589M, which is pretty damned fine. -

Hasn't Strek 4 featuring Chris Hemsworth already been announced? Paramount will keep churning these things out until the returns diminish so much that the profits evaporate completely. -
BWP was mostly filmed in Seneca Creek State Park. At the time I lived and worked in that area, and news of the production made the rounds. It's a scary film but I think much of its effectiveness stemmed from the disorientation caused by the shaky, handheld camera work. I haven't seen it since it came out so I don't know if it's as disorienting on a tv screen.

Maybe it should be "Fry the Fish!" Simple, brutal and tasty. But maybe a bit too Southern for everyone's palate. Sushi? ?

There are a few folks who might benefit from being banned from Marvel threads, but I won't name them because calling people out is borderline trolling.

Christmas? No, it's about Edward Snowden, the NSA contractor who stole terabytes of secret files and fled the US to seek asylum in Russia, one of the most restrictive countries in the world, supposedly because he objected to government assaults on civil liberties. His current situation seems oddly fitting. The movie is scheduled for the right time, when it will sink without a trace and be quickly forgotten.

Are you referring to the people who quite rightly derided the shitty trailers for Fant4stic as "trolls"? That thing was a shit-show from start to finish. Some fans of the franchise were were discerning enough to realize that after watching the trailers and hearing what Trank & co said about their ilill-fated fiasco. Others who weren't quite as bright believed (or pretended to believe) that 4stic would actually be a good movie. I wouldn't dream of calling those suckers trolls. However, they were exceptionally dense.

Ah, yes. The season of pretentious bore-a-thons is coming. Luckily for the studios, those colorful and entertaining talking animals and blockbusters earn enough let them fund mostly low-grossing Oscar-bait every fall. And since the Academy has diversified ever so slightly, maybe a few colored folks might get nominations this year.

After this weekend Pets will have grossed more than all the films Louis CK has ever been in combined.

I didn't see your post because I only searched the archives for this forum. Sorry! Maybe a mod can promote your thread and merge this one with it. The trailer just popped up among my YouTube recommendations. (I watch a lot of cat videos...?) It looks like it'll be good. I'll probably read the book before I see it.

Based on the book of the same name, A Street Cat Named Bob is the true story of James Bowen, a busker in London who struggled with addiction and homelessness. As Bowen teeters on the brink of relapse, a stray orange tabby breaks into his flat and works his way into the man's life. After the cat determinedly adopts him, Bowen is motivated to stay clean and rebuild his life. Luke Treadway stars as Bowen and Bob the Street Cat plays himself. Joanna Froggatt plays Val, Bowen's social worker, Ruta Gedmintas is his neighbor/friend and Anthony Head is Nigel Bowen, James' father. Roger Spottiswode directs. //www.telegraph.co.uk/films/2016/06/21/a-street-cat-named-bob-watch-luke-treadaway-in-the-first-trailer/ From street cat to silver screen

Star Trek Beyond | 7.22.2016 | Not an Oscar winner.

According to reports, Yelchin left the vehicle's engine running for some reason, and his house has a steep driveway. It was still running when his friends found him. He didn't set the parking brakes, one assumes. It was just a horrible accident. My heart breaks for his parents, who lost their only child.
