  1. my first viewing...I didn't think much of it. my second viewing I was nearly in tears. Masterpiece
  2. was visually very beautiful...but I just didn't understand it. D grade from me. after seeing the grades you people have given it maybe I'll watch it again in the future to try to understand it better, but i don't think that will be any time soon.
  3. still think Insidious and Sinister are the best horror movies of recent times. This was very well made movie though, enjoyed it.
  4. well, its a pity Hobbit 2 wont be a 300mil movie. Its very deserving of it. Hope it gets 1bill at the very least.
  5. I don't consider lord of the rings or these new hobbit movies to be separate films. they are just one long episode that is split in three. Having said that, this was just a joy to watch. It was different to everything that had come before. We get to see Sauron rising to power, we see elves who are less like their noble cousins who we are accustomed to and we see action sequences which are very well choreographed. That barrel scene was incredible. Legolas is the greatest elf ever...Tauriel is a close second now:P Damn they were good. Giant spiders, holy fuck! I liked the affect the ring gives the wearer when they are near the spiders. As for Smaug....OMG!!!! He was the best thing i have ever seen next to Gollum. I always wondered if they could pull off a dragon that could talk and they did! I found him to be absolutely terrifying and that voice made me tremble...literally...!!!! This was an amazing movie for me. I'm a big middle earth fan so I have loved all the moves so you guys may think im biased....and i don't care lol. This was the real shit. Im just thinking how scary it will be when i go see it in HFR 3D...the spiders and Smaug..already giving me chills. Totally loved the Gimli reference...was a nice touch. A grade. Just like all the other movies. Cant wait for the third part Only gripe i had was that they didn't use the misty mountains theme at all...i know there was not much heroic acts happening that could warrant it but subtly squeezing it in there could have been done at some places. Really liked the Lake Town theme though. Oh and it seemed the audience with me also loved it. We were laughing and gasping and cheering at the relevant scenes. One of the best viewings I have ever had.
  6. Just going home now. Absolutely loved the movie and it seemed the audience did too. They laughed and gasped. Was a really nice atmosphere in there. 2D showing that was about 95% full. Maybe more. From what I heard the 3D showing in the superscreen was full too.
  7. i'll be going to see Hobbit in Cineworld O2 at 19:00 today. Seeing it in the biggest 2D screen that they have. Will see 3D in HFR in Swiss cottage Liemax, Maybe in the new year. Will give an update on how busy it looks tonight
  8. 1-John Williams 2-Hans Zimmer 3-Howard Shore 4-James Horner James Newton Howard, Harry Gregson-Williams and Alan Silvestri deserve a mention. My favourite since 1996 has been Hans Zimmer though. Been his fan since the Rock. Howard shore has composed the best score i have ever heard - LOTR John Williams has made the most iconic themes ever James horner...Braveheart and Titanic..nuff said
  9. A solid movie. Great acting performances by Jackman and Gyllenhaal. Only thing that kinda ruined it for me was how the kidnapper was telling Jackman everything about the kidnapping, step by step etc like a typical James Bond villain. Maybe quick flashes to show bits and pieces here and there would have been better. 8/10
  10. Masterpiece. I have only seen this movie once and that was on opening day. I left with my jaw dropped. One of the best movies ever made.
  11. The Dark Knight is a masterpiece. The Dark Knight Rises is close to it though. Repeat viewings plays key here. TDK flows coherently. TDKR has some weak plot devices, which I don't think hinder it too much but are at times far-fetched. TDKR is 10/10 because I enjoyed it that much but when put up against TDK its a 9/10.
  12. you're not understanding what RTH meant. 70/52/32 that is called frontloaded as Goffe said. That is how DH1 performed
  13. one of the scariest movies i have ever seen.
  14. needs to get rid off the shaky cam. It worked at times but the shakiness and constant zoom ins are a bit much.
  15. Brilliant movie. Far fetched but nicely executed. Some scenes were beautifully directed. I have developed immense respect for Alfonso Cauron.
  16. So wheres the Avengers effect? or is that only relevant for Iron Man? Fishnets rants about Loki pulling business etc. Seems a fantasy now. Anyhow, i really liked the movie so i'm kinda crushed to be honest, Wanted it to do big business. I'm sure it will have good legs though
  17. 7/10Enjoyed it. Only qualms I have is Maliketh is not a villain that would make you shake in your boots. Brilliantly acted but powerwise he is nothing. Even when possessed with the aether he barely held his own against Thor.Highlight was Frigga owning Maliketh, her funeral scene and Lokis relationship with her and his pain at her death. Was kinda dissapointed that loki lived as I would have liked to see Thor and crew journey to hell to get him back in the 3rd movie. Would have been a great way to introduce Hela.Much better movie than Iron Man 3 and just a couple of notches lower than Man of Steel for me. Star trek 2 still best movie of the year that I have seen. The collector scene at the end seemed out of place to be honest. No mention of infinity stones in the movie so the audience would be left scratching their heads on what the hells was that about. Seems they have made the tesseract and the aether as infinity stones. am i corect? anyone?
  18. off the top of my head......... Samara coming out of the TV in the Ring Visitor scene in Insidious Lawnmower scene in Sinister
  19. Bugger, i gotta wait over a month to see it:( time to avoid these threads
