  1. Wouldn't it make more sense to expand for Valentine's Weekend? I don't understand the rationale here.
  2. This will do ok, it's the only comedy in February, and really throughout March until Chips hits 24m ow 75m dom
  3. I wish Queen and Jada's onscreen reunion was in something that looked better. Set it Off is a cult classic. This is good counterprogramming for black females so I'd say 22 ow/ 60m domestic
  4. i just wanna know what the rationale was for dumping these films in January back to back with little to no marketing and no awards buzz.
  5. Rumored Superbowl tv spots: Disney: GOTG 2, POTC Fox: A Cure for Wellness and possibly Logan or Alien: Covenant Sony: pre-game tv spot (Spiderman: Homecoming?) Paramount: Baywatch or Transformers: The Last Knight Universal: tv spot during game (Fast 8?) Warner Bros: nothing. http://deadline.com/2017/01/super-bowl-ads-hollywood-movies-nfl-ratings-1201894863/
  6. I dont expect Dog's Purpose to cross 20m, I'd say 17-18m right now, but's its gonna battle Split for number one so that's a small win for Universal.
  7. It's not like anyone knows what age Robertson really is. She still looks passable as a teen, and has to take advantage of that, because i doubt studios are calling her for anything else.
  8. Yeah. It'll be at around 97-98m by the end of January. It will likely have enough gas in the tank to get over the hump during February especially considering Valentines Day and Oscar awards.
  9. True but it made more sense to keep it in July/August so you can try to get some summer weekday dollars and counterprogram. The Founder i would have left in November and expanded around Thanksgiving. They're so lucky that Lion is catching on and could possibly be a 30m+ grosser.
  10. I don't know why they decided to sabatoge their films (Gold, Founder) by dumping both at the end of January with so much adults/awards contenders also in theaters.
  11. The set design was great. I guess Sony can use these noms to push it across the line.
  12. How did Paramount get Silence in over 1500 theaters after last weekend dismal expansion?
  13. Weinstein sabotages their own films alot. They for sure should have either left it in August or tried to push for a real awards campaign. It will totally bomb this weekend.
  14. I didn't think this was going to be a huge hit before this video surfaced.
  15. I think Blade Runner will beats Kingsman 2 if they remain on those dates. Kingsman seems like a one-off film, that didn't need a sequel.
  16. black Canadian is the more appropriate word to use. A large percentage of black Canadians are from the West Indian/Caribbean dysphoria. They have totally different culture and tastes from African americans.
  17. It's hard to know what his real worth is, because he's only starred in two films with bigger stars then him outside of the franchise stuff. Atleast hes been smarter than Hemsworth in that regard, the sole blame can't be put on him. He doesn't have a outright flop (yet), so the jury is still out. He needs some films with him has the biggest star.
  18. Yes it should be at 94-95m by the end of next week. After that it just depends on holds. There are lots of new releases taking up space even though most will probably bomb.
  19. So it looks like this is gonna make over 300m WW. The last major place left to open is Japan in March. Its performance so far reminds me of Elysium and Oblivion, other original star driven sci-fi that were modest performers.
  20. I still don't know why Lionsgate doesn't just move this to August. Lackluster marketing seems to indicate that they know it's not going to do well in March. Everyone is excited to see either B&TB or Logan.
