  1. If Cinderella drops under 50% that's great when you look at how the other films held. Plus Insurgent is targeting a big piece of its demo.
  2. A B The DUFF Kingsman: The Secret Service The Last 5 Years C Chappie Insurgent Jupiter Ascending D Mortdecai F Fifty Shades of Grey
  3. It's more entertaining than the first, but that really isn't hard. There are way to many logical loopholes, many character actions don't seem to make sense, with the exception of Woodley all of the performances are honed in and fairly one note, even though it was more entertaining than Mockingjay Part 1 I can't rate it higher than it simply because as lazy as it was, there was still quality put into the technical aspects and it may eventually pay off. I'll say it's fine to go see, you won't be to disappointed in how you spent your money, but I wouldn't go out of your way to see it. C
  4. I bet 50 points to 2 people Insurgent opens over Divergent I bet 50 points to 2 people Furious 7 over 100m OW I bet 50 points to 2 people Home opens over 25m
  5. I think the ultimate troll would be for this movie to get delayed every year leaving this thread in an eternal debate cycle for a movie always in pre-production but never actually made.

  7. But the biggest hits this year so far have been American Sniper, Kingsman, and Fifty Shades. Of all the big hits only SpongeBob was any kind of tested brand.
  8. This will also be the first time a non-franchise film won the year since 2009, and the first R rated film to win since Saving Private Ryan in 1998. It will also be the lowest grossing winner since Spider-Man 3, and lowest grossing adjusted winner since Three Men and a Baby in 1987
  9. 1.Cinderella 2.Star Wars: The Force Awakens 3.Bridge of Spies 4.The Hateful Eight 5.Pitch Perfect 2 6.Tomorrowland 7.Inside Out 8.Minions 9.Mission Impossible V 10.Jurassic World
  10. This is why I like 10 nominees, it lets those few interesting choices get recognition whether they be blockbusters or whether they be indies or whether they be fun hybrids of Art House meets Blockbuster.
  11. Yeah, I'd say going back to how it was in 09/10 was the best pool of BP noms that we got. The 5% rule is rather stupid and beats the point of having more than 5 BP noms. I bet movies like Guardians of the Galaxy would make a lot of top 10 lists, but it probably didn't crack a lot of number 1s which keeps it out.
  12. Helena Bonham Carter - Suffragette Virginia Madsen - Joy Rooney Mara - Carol Amy Ryan - Bridge of Spies Rachel Weisz - The Light Between Oceans
  13. Idris Elba for Beasts of No Nation Tom Hardy for the Revenant Robert De Niro for Joy Jack O'Connell for Money Monster Samuel L. Jackson for The Hateful Eight
  14. Cate Blanchett for Carol Marion Cotillard for MacBeth Jennifer Lawrence for Joy Meryl Streep for Sufragette Alicia Vikander for the Light Between Oceans
  15. My blind guesses Derek Cianfrance for the Light Between Oceans Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu for the Revenant Todd Haynes for Carol Steven Spielberg for the Bridge of Spies David O. Russell for Joy
  16. If Bradley Cooper is considered a lead for Joy I could see it being him vs. DiCaprio on paper. My early predicts AKA blind guess Bradley Cooper for Joy Bryan Cranston for Trumbo Jake Gyllenhaal for Demolition Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant Tom Hanks for Bridge of Spies
  17. Blomkamp has really good style, I loved District 9, but I really did find Elysium to be heavy-handed and counterproductive with the logic it used (plus the movie as a whole wasn't really good either. I don't hate it as much as I used to, simply because a lot of that hate was to high of expectations).
  18. A B The DUFF Kingsman: The Secret Service The Last 5 Years C Jupiter Ascending D Mortdecai F Fifty Shades of Grey
  19. The movie was a really fun time and Samuel L Jackson rocked it as the villain. The movie is everything the new bond films lack, it is highly stylized and enjoyable. It does take some time for it to pick up the pace but once it does it's a fun ride. A very solid B+
  20. It was a solid B for me but I may have been more inclined to like it because it was part of a date night.
  21. Here's my early Summer predictions (Spoiler tag because it's a wall of text)
  22. I'm pretty sure nobody uses the word retarded in reference to those who are mentally handicapped anyways. It's evolved into a completely different meaning. Honestly it's be more offensive to use the word in the context of a special needs person than as an insult. For example, the word gay was never originally meant to mean homosexual,it was simply a different term for happy. Meanings and usages change, words become acceptable and non-acceptable and acceptable again through time. In the end I think people shouldn't be looking at the words people use but the meaning behind what they are saying. Nobody had any meaning of being derogatory towards somebody with special needs and it was obvious. I understand certain people find different words offensive but the fact that a word used (not even the intent behind it) could offend so much is one of the problems with language. It may just be me but I think the context and intent of what somebody said is way more important than the words themselves because the words themselves are simply a large combination of phonemes.
