Nice estimates are up from earlier, looks like Apes had a sat increase if you take out previews. Now it only needs 17m for a 70m opening and even with the WC a 17m day seems on the low side.
Toy Story 3 also got a BP nom and it was a sequel to one of the most acclaimed franchise of all time, plus monster box office.Dragon is a good movie and that's about it.LEGO deserves the win and is the front runner for the win currently.
The US is an ideal spot given the surge of popularity of the sport, and if the US could make it far in the WC we could see a huge interest with American audiences. However, I think the impact on Apes will be on par with the last World Cup, mostly because a lot of the interest was because the US made it to the final 8 and it's more of an increased interest in the play off WC games.
That's why I think common sense media's rating system is the best, it doesn't put everything under two capsules (appropriate for all ages, not appropriate for minors)
1.Boyhood2.Exodus: Gods and Kings3.Gone Girl4.Unbroken5.Interstellar6.Guardians of the Galaxy7.The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 18.Get on Up9.Inside Out10.The Avengers: Age of Ultron
I despised IT, Jason Bateman was the only thing I overly liked about it (I found MM alright but not great), however the movie itself wasn't that funny. In fact it was outright disturbing at some parts (Big chuck or whatever his name was... That scene was completely unneeded and handled in a gross out way, not a comedic one)
