  2. __________ UPDATE MAY 4: http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2015/05/04/keanu-reeves-is-back-lionsgate-announces-john-wick-2/2/ _____________________________________ http://www.movies.com/movie-news/john-wick-sequel/17849 Won't be surprised if we get more info Friday during LGF's earnings call. In the meantime, since we are talking Lionsgate...post your theme park/live show/concert ideas...
  3. I think they adapted the role to fit her, adding a bit more generic-European/francophone to it (in the latest script she does speak French in her first scene), after they cast Lea. But it's a role that given the character, pretty much had to be northern-European, ideally Danish. It'd be more jarring if someone like Cruz played a northern-European role, if you know what I mean. SERIOUS MEGA SPOILER
  4. Cheers for reminding me, forgot fixed Lea is the "Scandinavian" girl that has been mentioned in the casting calls.
  5. It's because of who Madeleine is, they can't really cast someone Spanish like Penelope for the part.
  6. $106,407for Mockingjay. Just placing total $8K above GOTG. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=hungergames3.htm
  7. Forbes decided to break the news anyway without waiting for LGF's announcement/numbers. Yay. Obligatory repost for all you Mockingjay fans: Enjoy while it lasts, Tumblr
  8. And it took all of under 2 weeks to top Kingsman for me. A deliciously chilling four-man show, and extremely visually impressive despite the mostly claustrophobic but still absolutely stunning setting. The film's ultra-clean and almost sterile visual look is one of its big trump cards, which is a fantastic contrast to the performances, especially the chemistry between Isaac and Gleeson; with the former's more laid back demeanour drawing some of the best, if not slightly uncomfortable laughs and moments of levity, all playing off against Gleeson's geeky awkwardness. But of course they play both off the brilliant Alicia Vikander, whose steely, chilling, calculated but at the same time seductive, engaging and almost sincere performance was the real standout. Really reminded me of Rosamund in Gone Girl for some reason too... Also special mention to Sonoya Mizuno for her almost even more chilling omniscient presence. And the film itself is like Vikander's performance, it's a slow burn, almost clinical and very much ballerina-like film, and this sort of tone serves the story and the performances perfectly. Without going into spoilers, much like Gone Girl and maybe to some extent even beyond that, you don't know the characters' allegiances and whether they're truly good or bad, the ambiguity here is key too. You'll still be left with your mouth open and in a state of shock by the end though, and once again, much like Gone Girl, this film really taps into some of the audiences' weak spots, in this case regarding the internet and how it affects us. Try go cold with this, don't watch the international trailer and watch the A24 one if you need to. Feel sorry for all of you having to wait until April because dammmmmmmnn....... 9/10
  9. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 Lionsgate Thriller/Suspense $143,295 -65% 1,221 $117 $333,074,231 http://www.the-numbers.com/daily-box-office-chart $80k to go...should be happening today

  11. Mockingjay is literally the only film for which there haven't been estimates released....LGF waiting to announce that #1 DOM tomorrow?
  12. Saw the theatrical cut today. Definitely has potential, major fault though is the dialogue which a longer cut won't unfortunately fix. Apart from that though, very visually arresting, but due to cuts for runtime very clinical and just methodically moving from event to event with little to no dramatic build-up/transitioning at all. 5.5/10
  13. The dialogue above perfectly encapsulates Kingsman's position in today's movie landscape - while it is, like Guardians of the Galaxy (which this is the 2015 equivalent of to be very blunt), an over the top and, amongst all other tentpoles, may stand out as a sore thumb so to say, it still never lets up of its craft and still manages to be an incredibly enjoyable and satisfying film; a breath of fresh air amongst all the "darkness" of other releases. This film manages to achieve everything that GOTG did (for the comic-book space fantasy genre, but here for the comic book spy genre) but better, probably, in my opinion, because of the sort of freedom this film (I think) got in the creative process, and the going all "balls out" thanks to the lack of rating constraints that the film makers had to adhere to, at the same time as staying classy and avoiding being juvenile, likely due to the implications of the spy genre. The script and story may sound silly on paper, but this proves that with the right director, the audience will go along cheerfully for the ride. Kudos also to Vaughn to making this film very identifiably British, there are bits in there that someone who's aware of the socio-cultural going-on will definitely appreciate, while for those not int he know it provides a nice window into this that is much better than other British-centred tentpoles do which do seem to be a bit more Americanised that you would expect. The amount of moments that totally are worth seeking this out with a packed audience for is also immense and the audience reactions and involvement are brilliant, and I was completely sold on the twists and turns of the story, despite them being pretty damn far fetched and all. One thing this film got absolutely perfect is the pacing - it never let up, from the completely crazy action scenes (with two scenes in particular being absolute and complete highlights that will no doubt have your theatres erupt) to the more emotional scenes, which the cast carried through perfectly, even better than most films of this type. Colin Firth and Taron Egerton were the real highlights of the cast, with the chemistry between the two characters being the real centerpiece of the film. Mark Strong, Sophie Cookson were also brilliant in their supporting roles and their camaraderie with the two leads. The only weak point was probably Michael Caine, but in a couple of scenes he definitely stood out, and Samuel L Jackson was really great if not way too much on the hammy and scenery-chewing side. Overall, it is extremely satisfying, way more so than a lot of other similar films, and sets the bar extremely high for 2015 films. Only shame is that unlike GOTG it can't be as big a breakout box-office wise, despite this being the superior movie. One reason is the rating, but the other is that there is yet another "fandom phenomenon/crazy fangirl" movie, that is also R-rated, coming out the same weekend in the US... 9/10 P.S. The 20th Century Fox UK screening room is seriously awesome, incredibly enjoyable atmosphere and audience to watch this with!
  14. Photocall tomorrow at the IceQ restaurant in Solden, Austria with Craig, Mendes, Seydoux and Bautista http://www.tt.com/kultur/kinoundtv/9452006-91/zun%C3%A4chst-musste-bond-dem-wetter-trotzen.csp
  15. Worldwide? Yes, definitely, by far. For everyone outside the US/Canada/Puerto Rico piracy's the only way to see this apart from having to use a US proxy and some Google Play/YouTube workarounds. No idea whether this will get intl. release.
  16. Everybody laugh: The Sony rental (seetheinterview.com) is DRM free. You can literally right click and save as xD
  17. Unless you go through Google Play which actually goes through PayPal now which is nice
