  1. Bay at least does what he does best with technical prowess, that's for sure IMO.
  2. ^This. In the last 2 films, we actually get to see the Fallen start to activate the Sun Harvester and Sentinel bring back Cybertron. In this one, Galvatron NEVER lays hands on the Seed, and is never close to kicking off an actual "Age of Extinction." The closest to "Extinction" we get in the film is in the flashback scene. :pAnd Lockdown's ship levitating metal within a very focused, immediate radius does not count as an "Extinction" level event.
  3. ^Galvatron's search for the bomb even kicks off the finale but he practically does nothing in the third act...
  4. In conclusion, this was a 5/10 for me. Probably even less, depending on my mood. It's just that the first three films had more tension, and higher stakes leading to their finales. In TF3, Sentinel Prime and Megatron meet, interact, and actually manage to wreak absolute havoc on Chicago and start unleashing Cybertton. In TF4, Lockdown and Galvatron do not interact at all...Galvatron's search to secure the Seed kicks off the third act, but he absolutely disappears from battling in the finale. The finale just seemed very underwhelming and stale with a Galvatron-controlled nameless robot army, a battle with Lockdown (who just conveniently returns from the second act with barely any motives relating to what kicked off the finale in the first place), and the Dinobots who are introduced out of nowhere, get no individual names at all (IIRC), and aren't on screen long enough to justify the movie's bloated running time. The film had the potential to much better, IMO, if they cut down on subplots, made Lockdown and his motives a bigger focus, actually gave the Dinobots hints of characterization, and decreased the blatant sequel hooks.Lockdown talks a lot about "the Creators" existing, but we only get obvious sequel set-up.Galvatron just barks some orders in the finale then reappears after the final battle talking how this isn't over, yadda yadda yadda. Sequel hook...Of course, the cgi is excellent, and I liked Mark Whalberg in his role. However, for the "Age of Extinction," it doesn't really make full use of planet-threatening stakes, and if it was aiming for a smaller scope, the first one was much better than this, IMO.
  5. Sorry if it's been posted already, but is there an announced China release date for 22 Jump Street?
  6. This was finally released in theaters here this week, and I came out loving the film.Amazing acting, that epic fantasy feel, and very strong direction & cinematography all while respecting the story of Noah, IMO.I love how Noah's re telling of the creation story includes imagery of evolution and modern man, all in one. And to add, this is probably the most artistically ambitious and well-crafted Bible movie I've ever seen. A-
  7. Not much competition for HTTYD2, and lots of people liked it here as well, so why not?
  8. I am so glad I read the reactions here and decided to watch this on the big screen :)The most satisfying sci if film since District 9 IMO.Heart, action, humor, rock-solid acting and tight plotting. Who wouldn't want that?9/10
  9. But they're not just normal numbers, they're Monday numbers!!!
  10. Well, thank God they worked out something in the end.
  11. I for one, wish Godzilla shows better numbers this weekend. Who's with me? (Or not?)
  12. Good ol' Minilla ought to do the trick. (Or more like drive him away )
  13. I just came back from my second time watching this, and it's very safe to say that I liked it even more. The acting/script is still decent, but nothing special for me. But damn, even the second time around, all the monster scenes never fail at building suspense and tension. Plus, Godzilla's movements and emotions are just so perfect. I'm appreciating the general slow burn approach of the movie even more. The score/audio work are extremely well-done in this movie. Those high notes when Godzilla appears in Chinatown? Glorious. And the atomic breath...the buildup is just pure movie magic for me. Again. This movie completely succeeded on the technical and personal entertainment levels, and the only which keeps this from being flawless for me is the script/character work.Just a really, really, well-done popcorn flick.
  14. I just realized how much more emotive Godzilla is than Watanabe in this film. Lol
  15. If that's the case...10%, let's stick together!
  16. I still love this movie and have at an A-, but I'm sure we can all agree on this:The script does not come anywhere close to matching Edward's direction and McGarvey's cinematography.
