Good point, forg, though admittedly I myself am not a big fan of the MMFF's annual offerings. However, I was sorely looking forward to Boy Golden but it did not show anywhere in my place, and I found Pedro Calungsod to be just alright since it seemed to drag sometimes.
As much as it pains me to say it, receipts for the opening day of the 2013 MMFF were around 12% higher than those of last year's. Why can't the MMFF entries be more like Boy Golden & Pedro Calungsod? Films that actually showcase Filipino culture & history. :/
Keanu + big-budget action film is pretty sure to find an audience somewhere. But those Malaysia & Singapore opening numbers are considerably lower than what they were for Pacific Rim.
