  1. Frozen versus TLK is a harsh matchup. That's what I'd like to see in the finals, probably.
  2. Crazy train would be another 250m or so, then it could pass HP7.5.
  3. His two previous efforts for WDAS are fine. WiR has some really nice bits.

  5. Tele better post a reminder for next year's awards because that's in the running for funniest post of the year. Damn.
  6. Even if it wouldn't hurt, if it's not going to specifically help, why bother doing it? At this point, the only reason is to appease people who are likely to see it anyway. For the wider audience, there are too many things coming out between now and November that are distractions. It's better to wait. (Also, they did release that setting footage.)
  7. There's pretty much no reason for them to advertise or announce anything earlier.
  8. TF4 stands a good chance of hitting 1b, but it's not guaranteed to outgross TF3. The domestic gross is very likely to drop, perhaps more than $50m. And while some markets may see a rise, I do believe the dollar is currently weaker than it was in 2011, so even if those markets see an increase in local currency, they could gross less in dollars, leading to a lower OS total. Ultimately, while there are several films that could gross over a billion, I don't think anything until Avengers 2 will see a higher WW total than Frozen.
  9. Alice in Wonderland made over a billion dollars. Frozen is looking to finish somewhere between 1.1 and 1.2 billion. It's certainly higher, but not astronomically so. If Maleficent does a billion, it's certainly within the range of Frozen's appeal.
  10. Yes, but the market counted on BOM is the UK, Ireland, and Malta. Just like the Domestic market is the US and Canada. Or New Zealand is really New Zealand and Fiji.
  11. From the Australian box office thread, someone said the average ticket price is about $12.20, which would give Frozen about 2,545,750 admissions. The country's population is estimated at 23,435,007. So that'd be a ratio of 10.86%. For Denmark, assuming the exchange rate hasn't changed drastically in the past four months since it was released, the average ticket price of 90 kr is about $16.61. That would account for about 467,650 admissions. It's population is estimated at 5,627,235, so the ratio is 8.31% For the UK (plus Ireland and Malta), the average ticket price is 8 pounds, or about $13.33 for 4,847,150 admissions. The population is estimated at 68,745,767 for 7.05%. However, this is a really rough calculation on my part. I can't claim any expertise on the markets in any of these countries. The UK could be really suspect, since there's three countries (sort of) and two currencies involved.
  12. Oh, nice list, Henry I. I hope we get the chance to fill it out further. I believe it's the highest grossing animated film in history in Denmark, for instance, though I don't know what the admissions are like. And it seemed like the Australian performance was quite impressive relative to population.
  13. The Disney artists I spoke to at ECCC (Brittney Lee and Victoria Ying) both seemed quite enthused about BH6. Ying indicated that TJ Miller as Fred is amazing.
  14. Tom Cruise was a producer of Jack Reacher, though, so he's probably got a bit more vested than just the actor paycheck. Also, hasn't a sequel for it been announced already?
  15. Reacher's probably most likely. It's a toss-up between Ryan and Robo for least likely. I don't expect one from either, unless there's a substantial success on video. They both got pretty poor earnings to production cost ratios. Reacher cost the same as Ryan while doing significantly better. NFS I could see getting a sequel. It's a pretty frugal production by Dreamworks.
  16. The timing was really unlucky as well. Lone Survivor broke out huge and took the action audience. I wonder if it would have been better to leave it on the original Christmas release.

  19. I think it will be quite some time before another animated movie outearns Frozen WW. Finding Dory is probably the only forthcoming release that looks like it could do so, but even there it seems a tall order. It's not even assured of $1B WW. TF4 stands the best chance of hitting $1b this year. Hobbit TABA could do it, but I'm not sure it's going to see a large rise above Smaug. HTTYD3 and Mockingjay 1 are both pretty fringy. I don't think any film before Avengers 2 will outgross Frozen.
