  1. Yeah. Disney's never really been big on the high profile names for their films. They'll have people you may know, but aren't really draws in and of themselves, except in some weird cases... like Mel Gibson. So BH6 will probably have a crew that includes people you know, but don't really follow heavily.
  2. The film is an excellent followup to the TV series. It hits all the points that fans will like, and while it's a little too compressed for comfort, the mystery is pretty clever and enjoyable. It actually feels like they took the uberplot for an entire TV season and cut out all of the extra stuff. Quality-wise, it may not be as good as the first season, but it's at least on par with season 2, and well ahead of the season 3. It's exactly the sort of film that will encourage people to want even more to follow. In the realm of fan-driven continuations to dead series, it's probably the best case scenario.
  3. I'm not concerned, since it's animation, but it is very strange to not see any casting news this late in the game.
  4. Ooh. Thanks to Jesus of Suburbia, I'm now up above 1000 likes. I feel all special and such.
  5. Man. Japan is going to be a nail biter. It's not just the WW total that's in play, but also the OS total. It probably needs to get to $95 million to get the top animated spot OS. Though probably only $70m to get to #2 on that list.
  6. 107 straight days. The first five were limited release. It will pass up MM for the rest of the weekend though. And since it's keeping the drops under 20%, 400m is not that far away.

  8. Yes, there were only 17 theaters, but the tickets were highly priced (mine was $18), and likely all of them were close to sell-outs. (Most had to add a second screen to meet demand.) I could see 100-150k coming from those preview showings ($18 x ~400 seats x 17 theaters). If the 200k is including that, the true midnight number is quite a bit less.
  9. Lego's estimate is up 6% from Wednesday to 1.08m
  10. If they do Runaways, I hope it's a musical. (I've had it in my head that Amber Riley should play Gert for a long while now.)
  11. Hmm... 200k for VMars. I wonder if that's just the preview nights, or some combination of previews with normal midnights.
  12. Hopefully the next one can get made without a KS campaign.
  13. That's crazy. Wasn't the exchange rate better for the dollar the last time a film beat $10m OW?
  14. 1. Veronica Mars2. How to Train Your Dragon 23. The Raid: Berandal4. Big Hero 65. Maleficent6. The Boxtrolls7. Muppets Most Wanted8. Cinderella9. Home10. Edge of Tomorrow
  15. They somehow managed to find a way to make Tiger Lily a more racist depiction than the Disney film. That's bloody impressive.
  16. If it's three films: Big Hero 6 How to Train Your Dragon 2 The Lego Movie If it's five, there will be two of: The Box Trolls The Book of Life Something foreign, but I honestly don't know what.
  17. Is The Wind Rises closed now that it lost theaters?
  18. Looks like I've got 150 points to play with. 50 points Veronica Mars is in the top 12 this weekend. (2 people) 25 points Veronica Mars is in the top 10 this weekend. 25 points Veronica Mars makes over 1.5m this weekend.
  19. It's pretty impressive how close Frozen, MM, and 3DtK are to each other. Three straight days of all within 11k of each other.
  20. So, when will a fully animated film get recognized for the cinematography?
