  1. And those numbers sounded reasonable at the time too (at least to me). Maybe the niche echo chamber has replaced popular discussion in regards to film? Reminds me of Saltburn - a movie no one saw in theaters, a movie that never landed on the Nielsen streaming charts - yet still got labeled as the movie EVERYONES talking about.
  2. Between this and Monkey Man, the disparity between films that get actively discussed online and the amount of people actually willing to go see them has been fascinating. I thought Civil War would have a break out $50m OW a month ago.
  3. Sending out your declaration of war via Tweet is wild behavior. We might actually be in the last days.
  4. SOMEBODY GET THIS MANS BRAIN TO THE CTE DOCTORS IMMEDIATELY.
  5. I hadn’t seen it in years and only started watching because of The Rock. Like one of the last things I remember watching was Rey Mysterio having to fight a guy to win back the custody of his son (now the son’s a grown ass man fighting his dad. That’s how long it’s been). It’s so silly and fun, like a soap opera or pantomime theatre. Also whoever revamped the Divas section into not being creepy garbage deserves an award.
  6. Aaaand it's out online. I have absolutely no idea what the source is. It appears to be from a Web store. Lack of foreign subtitles indicates a regional web-store that isn't available globally. Legendary films have different PVOD and SVOD terms globally compared to other WB films. It was always likely gonna be released online somewhere before the "official" April 14th date.
  7. To know it wasn't even close makes it worse. I feel like how non-Succession fans felt after being barraged by forced discussion of a show they've never heard of.
  8. From my experience: British-Indians in the UK tend to watch Indian movies and TV shows (I think i saw more posters for LEO than i did for Aquaman 2 in south London). British content that stars Indians only tend to do well with them when they are tied to the experience of being Indian in Britain (which I don't beleive Monkey Man is).
  9. What a waste of time. Everyone should be embarrassed. I saw articles from legit sources that read as if Disney would cease to exist in a week.
  10. I want to know how close the splits were because the way the news media was acting like this vote was life or death was some of the most irritating nonsense of the last month.
  11. this was announced before the film was released. April 16th was the original PVOD date. Kung Fu Panda is April 8th Ghostbusters in JUNE 17TH
  12. It didn't. They outsourced the animation to studios all over the world and paid the animators barely anything. Just like Sony and Illumination. I was really baffled over why a bunch of Hollywood people (who were on strike for 6 months) praised TOHO instead of actually questioning just how they were able to produce Godzilla Minus One on the budget they gave it.
  13. I was told the prestige TV era was over???
  14. I've been catching up with WWE for the first time since I was kid because The Rock is back. I am terrified of how entertaining I'm finding this shit. Sending Vince McMahon to jail may have been the best thing they've ever done.
  15. 5 TV channels when I was younger. It was a great way to discover movies. I would never have seen films I love like EuroTrip, You Don't Mess with The Zohan, and 16 Blocks, if it hadn't been for the fact that there truly was nothing else better to watch when they aired on TV. Things like Letterboxd and Rotten Tomatoes only ever highlight 'critically acclaimed' cinema - if people only watch the same movies and don't form their own tastes we'll end up with really boring people.
  16. Exactly. The young people are not aware of these old franchises, and the kids that do think the reverence placed upon them is OTT . They did not grow up watching Columbo with their parents on the one screen in the house. They didn’t just stumble across James Bond because it was the only thing on TV at that moment. Disney are about to release a Tron sequel for a bunch of kids and teens that legitimately do not know what on earth Tron is. I knew what Tron was before Tron Legacy came out because Tron occasionally aired on TV.
  17. Universal owns Casper's rights through the Dreamworks Acquisition. I read there's hesitancy with studios relying on properties as old as Casper. The public domain laws on Casper kick in in 17 years (that sound really far away but remember the Tranformers movies started in 2007, 17 years ago) . Disney spent a lot of time minimising Mickey from the public consciousness so they didn't get shell-shocked once Public Domain kicked in (no Mickey movies, they removed Mickey Mouse logos from things like Disney Channel, no non-preschool Mickey Mouse animated series for 20 year etc.).
  18. I remember they created their own sub-studio called Ghost Corps. No idea if it still exists in any interesting capacity though.
  19. An 86% is B+ to A- but its still too early to call. We'll know for certain later today.
  20. The last movie felt morbid. That last scene where the girl was hugging that CGI dead man was insane.
  21. Less than $40m OW prediction just hit. It might be over.
  22. Both the 2016 and 1984 films were just okay and any hoopla created by either was unwarranted.
