  1. Monarch was so fun. Shame its on Apple and nobody actually saw it. I think it would've been right up Netflix's alley.
  2. Also every studio has stuff falling into public domain coming up (the 2030’s are going to be brutal). They’ll play nice with each other
  3. So... This just dropped online 10 minutes ago. iTunes 4K HDR. No idea which region dropped it.
  4. The way this movie has been spoken about on the film sites I visit made me think it was some kind of massive BO success story…
  5. It’s like watching someone try to squeeze juice from a rock the way Disney have been trying to resuscitate these Fox movies. Fox exhausted their movie franchises long ago. Nobody wants: 3 SVOD animated Wimpy Kids, an SVOD Ice Age, an SVOD animated Night at The Museum, How I Met Your Father, a Doogie Houser reboot, a Wonder Years reboot, a True Lies TV show, and Home Alone 7. They were wise to cancel that Sandlot sequel before they started filming. They struck gold with Prey. Too bad they stuck it on Hulu.
  6. Yep. 4K HDR copies available 10 minutes after release. My Plex server’s running like a multiplex. No matter what the internet tells us: piracy is un-common in markets with easy access and mature legal alternatives.
  7. It’s true. Piracy and PVOD aren’t as big a deal to BO as we think, but I do wonder the effect of shorter release windows are having on audiences mentally. I used to watch all the big blockbusters in cinemas. If I was going to see big film I may as well do it in the best possible environment. Drama and Oscar-Bait was for the TV. Now that we have these 30 day windows and streaming premiers reinforcing the idea the at-home viewing, I think it’s lead to cinema becoming a kind of preview-box for people. You go if you want to see a movie desperately, before everyone else does on TV. Not because you may as well.
  8. I really like Dune but this tweet sums up the reaction amongst my friends
  9. They’re banking a lot of promo on a CGI Cat. Is this a well known cat? Am I meant to know who this cat is? What is the joke here? It’s a CG Cat.
  10. Incredible. Starting Monday I can watch The Marvels, Aquaman 2, Wonka, Wish, and Migration. Thats five massive movies. One movie a night for a week. All from the comfort of my sofa. I didn’t watch a single one in cinemas. I didn’t expect my viewing habits to change so drastically but these shorter windows really make it harder to justify the trip to the big screen. How is this still sustainable?
  11. 2024 is gonna be rough for them because I’m not leaving my house to watch any of these.
  12. They’re doing it because, when done right, Super-Hero’s are hot and Sony has the film rights to Super-Hero’s. That’s it. There’s pressure on them to use their Marvel characters so they have to use them. Sony’s problem is that they only have the rights to the Spider-Man franchise, which sadly (for them) is mostly filled with supporting characters that exist solely to benefit a Spider-Man story. Ends up with a promotional run for these films coming across as if they’re straining to justify the films existence.
  13. It’s a screenshot of a HDR copy running on my MacBook. I imagine the SDR version is brighter.
  14. Don't know when this happened but I loaded up The Color Purple and it looks like WB finally fixed their logo: And here's the old app-icon friendly version from the time that mad man ran the company:
  15. Ok so I 1000% knew there was gonna be blowback to this. There were so few markets that would have seen promotion for the stage musical and only one that would've seen sustained advertising for it. Paramount made the strategic choice to hide the musical aspect of the film and now we are here. I only knew this would happen because it has happened before: BEHOLD the trailer for Sweeney Todd. The only film I've ever been to where half the audience left before it was over. At least we will always have this video though: https://x.com/ErickLorinc/status/1745518571692941597?s=20 https://x.com/ErickLorinc/status/1745518571692941597?s=20
  16. Was this on a one weekend only theatrical window? The 4K HDR VOD release is online right now.
  17. Notes and suggestions are not business decisions. Aside from nixing the greater universe tie-ins from these films there hasn’t been anything to suggest there’s been some kind Gunn mandated overhaul of them.
  18. We won’t see anything that significantly involves their decisions until 2025 at the earliest…
  19. They didn’t want to have a potentially very lucrative franchise hampered by a sub-par made-for-streaming-movie anchored by ideas and characters the new regime had no interest in exploring. Also if these people were getting feedback stating The Flash was phenomenal then I can’t imagine how poor Batgirl could’ve been with its apparently middling test results. Also it really does feel like they left Beetle to die. I don’t understand the economics that would’ve prevented WB from delaying this until after Superman.
  20. You are right. I used the web inspector and I guess RT hasn't updated that portion of the site yet. There's only 1 bad written review, so that means 96.3%
  21. Big with UK Christians too. Its the only modern show my aunt watches.
  22. The Chosen is actually quite popular. Very big with Christians. Also the imdb rating for that show is hilarious.
  23. The alleged 'Box Office Reporter' Deadline Anthony is going above and beyond to spin this flop.
