  1. Deadline Disney’s Polynesian navigator found her way to another $14.9M in 32 material territories for an international cume of $144.5M. The worldwide total is now $325M. Germany and Italy were among the major new openers across the Christmas holiday. In Italy, Moana topped her stablemate Rogue One with a No. 1 launch of $1.8M while she placed No. 2 behind Rogue One in Germany with $1.7M. China, where play has ended, leads offshore markets at $30.4M, followed by France with $22.7M, the UK at $12.7M, Russia at $12.3M and Mexico with $10.1M. Australia opens today with Brazil, Korea and Japan still to set sail.
  2. Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $175,849,191 54.9% + Foreign: $144,500,000 45.1% = Worldwide: $320,349,191 25M$ estimate OS week
  3. Italy OW 1,66M€. One of the lowest ever for Disney/Pixar but not significant by now due the bad configuration of the week (sat Chr eve/Sun Chr). Next WK could be 5M and more (not certain but pretty sure).

  5. Moana is the new Disney's animated-musical-princess-thanksgiving movie released after Frozen. Or Frozen is the last Disney's animated-musical-princess-thanksgiving movie released before Moana. So it's the better-logical-normal-classic-intelligent comparison to do. If then, because Frozen is a too successful movie, someone prefer to compare with The Good Dinosaur or Strange Magic or Rise of The Guardians, it's ok, but more insane and silly. In the same way, you can say that to compare TFA with R1 is insane & silly because TFA is a too successful movie?
  6. OD in Italy: 0,21M€ (0,23M$) 34k admissions, but this number isn't so significant by now, wait for sat-sun to judge.
  7. Illumination has ony one consolidated brand (Minions) and 1/2 new products each year. Disney has the three biggest brand now in the world (SW, Frozen, Marvel), dozens of other consolidated brands and pratically one new product each month.
  8. I know quite well how they act on the consumer products market: never force the new products (because they have many and sometimes simultaneously), they observed the reactions of consumers; when there is something that works, they become a perfect war machine. Then, when the marketing is lightweight, it is very, very likely that the reason is that the product (movie, TV serie or whatever you want) is (commercially) lightweight.
  9. Moana continues to stay neck to neck with TS2 so I think 250+ should be locked Projection: 250+ at day 90
  10. Another interesting facts: Google search - news - past 24 hours (today) Keyword "Disney Moana" = 55 found Keyword "Disney Zootopia" = 39 found Keyword "Disney Frozen" = 92 found Amazon.com Keyword "Disney Moana" = 2.209 found Keyword "Disney Zootopia" = 18.019 found Keyword "Disney Frozen" = 127.312 found
  11. I'm interested. Do you works in this area? I work into and I read the specialized press, the reports of the company involved and I talk with some industry guys: this is that seems to be. Maybe we are in different countries.

  13. As expected and said, three new Disney movies in a row that failed in merchandising in the same year (Zootopia, FD and now Moana) are putting in trouble some partners of the Mouse House. First victim is Jakks Pacific (licensor that was in highlights in past years as one of the largest recipient of Frozen's crazyness): https://www.thestreet.com/story/13931044/1/jakks-pacific-jakk-stock-tanks-after-drastic-outlook-cut.html If the "boy" sector has benefited from the success of Star Wars (even if the sales have been not exciting out of USA), the (more lucrative) "girl" sector is lacking of new strong ideas, and the "VIP" of the industry are screaming and crying for a new Frozen-like phenomenon. Knowing that Disney is very clever and fast when some kind of requests coming from some kind of people ..... I can bet for a Frozen 2 somewhere in 2018.
  14. I think they underestimated: 15,5M-8M (Uk/China/France as they reported) = 7,5M from 28 territoires including Russia/Mexico/Spain? In past weekend was 16M, so -55% average drop?
  15. This weekend isn't very significant, at least if you aren't one of the most anticipated movie ever (TFA). Next two weeks are the most important for a "Christmas movie". For example TFA had a 3x OW (5-days) multiplier, while for Frozen, that opened in the same week with weak anticipation, it was 9x. I think 15M+ are possible for R1, seing also that the "Star Wars" brand rises a lot in interest during 2016.

  17. Unfortunately it has lost almost one half of its screen this weekend (today at mimorin 2 pm are 45K vs 81k last sat), but never say never.
  18. Sing gets a pre-release in this super-discounted day, called Cinema2day: every 2nd wed of the month, 2Euro instead of 8!
  19. Meanwhile the original movie had its broadcast premiere on ABC and, as usual, doesn't go unnoticed. http://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwtv/article/Broadcast-TV-Premiere-of-Disneys-FROZEN-Draws-Strong-Numbers-for-ABC-20161212
  20. ComScore/Rentrak Estimate 14,75M Weekend from 8 markets, 276M$ WW cume.
