    Remember that comicbook movies tend to do worse in Poland than in western countries (ffs some X-men movies did worse than the host). They are growing after Avengers but I say they do 700k-1m depending on the film and the competition.

    Can't wait for the next week numbers since the schools are on winter holidays. I know some animations already sell well

    Paddington and Wild Tales hold well. This weekend I know Wkreceni 2 did 150k.

    Yup. As for your comment on Wild Tales. Remember it's Gutek. They don't have the money for big campaigns so they will never open big but the movie will have long legs. If I remember right it dropped 17% for the next weekend. That's a great hold

    You underestimated who releases Obywatel. It's a movie from Next film and they are owned by agora. A company owning Helios cinema chain, ams billboards, their own tv station, big horizontal web portal and a ton of prints. They didn't need to work hard on PR, they just printed what they wanted, where they wanted. I predicted around 60k similar to Pokłosie since the movie is very anti polish and I thought the negative audience for it will be bigger. Though that means we underestimated how Poles like to complain Bella did better than I hoped but the movie is awesome. If you cried at free willy you will cry here. It's a very similar movie and it's very touching. Pinnocchio still running really shows parents don't care what their kids see in cinemas. btw. I'm wondering how high Dumb and Dumber to will do next week. On one side there are many people who remember the first one fondly but on the other hand the negative audience of people who hate it is huge. It could go as high as 80k opening but it could also fail in a spectacular fashion.

    It didn't. They lost with that shitty polish comedy. I seriously want to move to france after seeing such results. The french are horrible people but at least even their bad comedy is better then ours. They still did above 100k but are 2nd only in revenue, in terms of viewers they are 4th

    I'm wondering if Belle and Sebastian will work. It's hard to say but if the distrubutor did some school work the movie might make a decent buck. It did well in a few countries outside of France. It's also a pretty decent movie (seen it on previews). As for the list - yeah from what I hear 3/4 of the horror results come from marathons and the avg ticket price suggests that.

    Yes but it's good to remember the crappy exchange rate because Russia performs similar to a few other market and you can use the USD numbers as a measuring stick. You have to use rubles.

    It's a 4 day weekend so some movies may do big week numbers for mon-tue. Also you underaprecieated fury on your fb page. Polish people like tanks I'm really surprised that Pinocchio isn't dropping. It really shows parents don't care what their children see since it's the worst animated feature I have seen in my life.

    195k for the weekend for them. Unless Interstellar kills them 2m should be easy. I doubt It will happen since Warner has horrible to no PR for their movies in Poland

    That's really strange. I've been to Jack strong early and I haven't seen it. Maybe in the later months they added it or they played it in a single cinema chain only. The teaser was released that early? As for big Movies you have no "Pod Mocnym Aniołem", "Kamienie na szaniec" "Wkręceni" and a ton of others that are 600k+ while those are 800k+ Miasto 44 is an obvious spot but that had paid trailers for almost any movie that wanted to make 200k+. Same for Bogowie.

    You are overexaggerating every big movie since the trailer was released. They paid a bit for paid trailers but Warner will probably hit the TV and Net ads big in the last 2 weeks and that will be the 90% of their campaign. I see it doing around 120k opening (depending on what they chose for TV spots and youtube) and ending with 600-800k viewers. 1mil will only happen if the movie is VERY COMMERCIAL and it seems less accessible than inception for me. Not to mention Inception didn't have to fight of Bogowie, which by release will still be doing 60-80k per weekend. Remember times have changed and 1 mil isn't as easy to get as it was in 2011.

    Remember that developing markets want action. We still don't know if it has action. If it doesn't the only way it does 1B is by being a very touching movie ala titanic or an event ala avatar. This looks too much like a big budget tree of life. Wonder how south american and Asia will handle it. Yurp will love it

    If you mention Hunger games then listy do M faced Twilight plus a smaller polish movie (80 milionów which will prbably do similar results to Obywatel). I know the other movies are stronger this year and that is why I see it at 2m not 2.5m but it should stay in cinemas for a loooong time.

    I've heard people speculate that it could go in a similar way Listy to M went with looong legs and strong results through November and December.

    The strange thing for anabelle is it did pretty well during the week.

    The weekend was closer to 600k if I remember right. Also 7 titled are above 30k viewers. Surprisingly Boxtrolls are at 32k. Maya is at 37k. Anabelle had a decent hold. People went back to cinemas. Strange in such a warm weekend.

    Yeah Same here. I've seen the reservations on friday and I knew it was going to be big. Miasto and Służby both dropped by the same % (low 40s, can't remember). I say it may beat Miasto and get 2mil Gone girl went for 43 or 42k if I remember right.

    It's a smart date for Maya. The target group here is a bit too young for big results since it's more of a pre school movie but there is nothing interesting in animation for 2 months (Boxtrolls and Pinocchio will probably fail.) Służby has very good reservations for Sroda z orange so I think the WOM is good.
