  1. Her performance in Arrival is really "quiet" too.
  2. I'm guessing Adams having two performances that got acclaim cancelled her out. Plus, after the #OscarsSoWhite controversy last year, nominating Ruth Negga was probably some sort of safety net.
  3. I've never really cared about ATJ but him as an Oscar nominee was a fun thought. Oh well. We have Garrett Hedlund and Armie Hammer possibly in the hunt for Oscar nominations this year, so the "bland white dude that Hollywood has tried desperately and mostly failed to make happen finally having their day" dream is still alive.
  4. By the way, Michael Shannon has now gotten two nominations with almost zero support. Same thing happened with Revolutionary Road 8 years ago. The power of God Shannon compels the Academy!
  5. Were you really expecting it to, though? Come on now.
  6. Remember when Fox Searchlight campaigned Dev Patel in Supporting for Slumdog Millionaire to try and nab him a nomination and they didn't buy the fraud and just shut him completely? Good times.
  7. I was just about to type that. lol. All of that campaigning was for nothing. Then again, that campaigning probably came across Trying It even more than Oscar campaigns usually are.
  8. I'm pretty sure La La Land is the biggest Best Picture lock since at least Slumdog Millionaire. They might as well just crown it right now.
  9. The only ones I'm certain it won't win are Best Actor and maybe the Sound categories.
  10. And can we please use never use this kind of presentation? So dumb. Just announce them live, as always.
  11. Yeah, Streep was very much in, especially after that Globes speech. Speaking of which, congrats on your 20th nomination, Queen Meryl!
  12. She'll be back next year! Oh wait, she only has Justice League this year. I completely forgot she was in that, but don't worry, I'm sure the movie will forget she's in it too.
  13. Mel Gibson getting nominated for Director makes sense really. 2016 really was an awarding year for assholes.
  14. Predictable Supporting Actress lineup.
  15. I'm just sad we won't live in a world where Aaron Fuckin'-Who? is an Oscar nominee.
  16. They also included clips from Central Intelligence and Snowden lmao.
  17. Ew at Suicide Squad being an Oscar-nominated film.
  18. DEAD at 13 Hours being an Oscar-nominated film.
  19. MICHAEL SHANNON! LUCAS HEDGES DIDN'T GET SNUBBED!
  20. Heh at this intro video. Dustin Lance Black is here to remind us how much of a flop his post-Oscar career has been.
