    I went to BOM and saw Alice's numbers. It had 14 million first weekend.But I think that in 2010 Japan market was bigger.

    With 50 million in Japan, Maleficent will be Jolie's biggest, including animated (it'll pass Kung Fu Panda 2).And it'll do close to 700 million.

    I never saw something like Frozen in Japan.More than 30 times first weekend.And the second international movie made more than 200 million less.I think this kind of thing is impossible in any other market.

    I said that I thought it was a good movie - not great, but good.Cold is hard to explain. I just didn't feel emotionally connected.The boring thing comes from the concept: like in a videogame, Tom had to die to learn, start again and pass the phase.Not just in this film, but these repetitive things of fights and explosions are boring for me.

    And Brazil'l game was good. Germany's game was boring, they made the goal, and then, nothing happened.

    I saw both movies. Liked both, didn't love any.EOT is a very good action movie, but a little cold. I almost sleep in some parts too. And it didn't do well in almost all world (except SK, China and Rússia).For example, it did 4 million in Brazil. Maleficent will do 30 million. But Tom Cruise helped EOT, for sure.Maleficent is a kid movie. Normally, I would not see this kind of movie.     Because she did a lot of them. It's not new for her. Actors like to try new things.And, in general, actors like serious drama. The action movies they do for money.

    Box office is a combination of star power and kind of project.You can't have Malficent numbers with an adult drama.And probably, You can't have Maleficent numbers with action pictures.Tom Cruise has bigger box office because : he makes more blockbusters kind of movies, he has a franchise with 4 pictures, he works more, he has at least 10 years more of age and career, and he is a male star (everybody knows that There are more big pictures for men). Obviously both are big stars.And other important thing: before internet, a star was more important than today.You can read in many places: today the concept of the picture is more important than the star.It doesn't mean that star is not important.I think Maleficent would do at least 200 million less without Jolie.Look at The Tourist. It was a french movie that was remade. Without stars (french movie), nobody saw. With Jolie and Deep it was a 280 million worldwide movie, even with bad reviews.

She refused: Snow white..., Wanted 2, Salt 2 and Gravity, only to name 4 big paychecks.If unbroken succceed, she will continue with directing, and only do movies that she thinks that are interesting (no action movies, for sure).Maybe, only maybe, she will do a sequel of Maleficent for her kids. And probably it'll not work, what they will do with Maleficent?

    The problem is: we know that Deadline is right, Nikki is the stupid here.If You read this forum, You know that Paramount is reporting smaller numbers than actual in weekdays to compensate what it did in the weekend.Then, obviously, TF4 made less than what Paramount reporter in the weekend.

    Actually, BOM is correct. Fault sold a little more tickets in this 2-3 week, but Maleficent got more $, because of the higher price of the 3D ticket.

    I think they are doing previews of this awful movie (TF4) in many countries. Brazil has previews too.

    I think this means that they are expecting that Maleficent will be a big hit in Japan (3 times more seats than EOT).Probably Maleficent's tracking is a lot bigger than EOT.But the weird thing is that, if your numbers are correct, Maleficent has less seats in Toho than Frozen last week.

    Someone doesn't know boxofficemojo. Maleficent is doing well in France and Germany. Not great, but good.
