  1. Do i watch Hereditary? 2+ hours for a horror film... really...
  2. at my usual cineworld st neots (6 screens) fair enough... but even like Stevenage with 16 screens or whatever it has, only one showing. just a bit weird when they are always super popular. On the other hand I also noticed Sicario next week so booked that one in.
  3. FB2 is a straight no. Mamma Mia would have to outsell the first one which seems incredibly unlikely. If it could match it though - then yes Mamma Mia would beat IW. Far too early to say what film will win the year though... Mary Poppins comes out in the final week of the year.
  4. No it is not "a US thing". TLK released 20+ years ago when international box office was nowhere near the size of today. TLK made $450M in its original run. 450M OS was incredibly rare, it did extremely well. 300/450 split was very rare. If you look at all movies throughout the 90s, just a quick look of BOM shows how big TLK was overseas. some comparable films.... Titanic - 1242M Jurassic Park - 550M Independence Day - 511M Phantom Menace - 493M The Lion King - 451M Jurassic Park 2 - 390M Sixth Sense - 380M Armageddon - 352M Men in Black - 339M T2 - 315M as far as I can tell, TLK was the 5th biggest film OS of that decade. It's BIG big. also, Disney movies from the 90s: Aladdin - 287M Beauty and the Beast - 206M Pocahontas - 204M Mulan - 184M also just a thought. If TLK's domestic gross adjusts from 312M to 683M - well if overseas inflation rose at the same rate (which it hasn't, it's risen more) then Lion King grossed equivalent of $1 billion overseas.
  5. just found out theres a Cineworld secret screening this week but seems to be sold out absolutely everywhere
  6. It was weird to see him post earlier, haven't seen him post in years. all he ever talked about was how X film was sexist/racist etc though.
  7. jeez louise I was being facetious, the person I replied to was saying no one wants Star Wars with different actor so I said no one wants TLK with different actors
  8. this banner on cinema website, I'm not going crazy this does look absolutely fucked up on the left side yeah?
  9. A Wrinkle in Time BV $1,772,000 +1,643.0% 245 +88 $7,233 $100,000,127
  10. The theatrical show is a success in its own right, it is not such a huge hit because of the movie, it's because it's a terrific show and people love it. I know plenty of people who have seen the production and love it but don't care about the kids film. Also I don't understand what you mean by "every metric says it is the most well liked film of all time". Can you name any of these metrics?
  11. Shrek 2 had a 5-day opening so multiplier isn't all that comparable, although it still had great legs - adjusts to 190M opening, 3.42x multi to get to 650M total. Shrek 2 had a phenomenal run and Incredibles will not match it. Different era. Soz.
  12. Oh man that AWIT number is beautiful. Congratulations black women filmmakers. Probably explained by overspill from sold out Incredible showings, I would assume.
  13. The hook for iw2 is the cliffhanger ending of the first part. The same as a cliffhanger on a TV show. There's nothing to explain.
  14. Have I entered a parallel universe where teenagers care about Beyonce? Isn't she kind of 10+ years ago stuff?
  15. Rowan Atkinson will ALWAYS be Zazu, I don't want John fucking Oliver in a shitty remake.
  16. I'm just saying the fact people like something doesn't mean they want a remake/different version of it
