  1. I'm watching a 70mm film, why the fuck are there ads and trailers
  2. It's not being edgy. I would like to see different and interesting films be big successes. Look at box office just 20 years ago and dramas and comedies and thrillers were doing the business of big tent pole sh films do today.
  3. Okay? Well they do look the same. The same looking blokes behaving in the same way fighting some dull CGI mess.
  4. They are all pretty much identical. Marvel has a formula that a lot of people enjoy. They don't take risks that's why they're so successful.
  5. yes obviously it will go the way of westerns at some point. But we are no where near there yet.
  6. I don't even know if its coming out this year pretty sure theres no trailer yet, just saw it on the BOM release schedule. I think 2019 will break the record for 100Ms. There are 20+ movies that are locked for 100M already let alone any others that do well.
  7. I count 30 that I consider potential for 100M so things would have to go amazing well for almost all of them, it's pretty much guaranteed to not happen. (I'm including things like robin hood, mortal engines, alita, the meg)
  8. I suppose if 2018 is the dominance of superhero movies, next year will be the death of superhero movies... you have: The Avengers, Captain Marvel, Spiderman and Wonder Woman (the rest of her league abandoned her)... vs Gojira, Elsa, Maverick, James Bond, Woody & Buzz, Pikachu, Emmet Brickowski, Toothless, Dumbo, Aladdin and Simba's Pride, Secret Pets, Dwayne Johnson's Fast and Furious, the clown from It, oh and Star Wars too.
  9. Record is 35 from 2013. 36 is the number needed each year in Blankments 100M thread and i agree its not gonna happen next year.
  10. no they wouldn't... they would just watch other things. the box office overall would not change hugely. A Quiet Place has done amazingly well nearly 200M for a horror film is excellent. Think you will see the superhero dominance be slightly mitigated from now onwards in the year... Jurassic Park coming this week, Mission impossible in July, some original tentpole films Meg & Skyscraper, and you have Mamma Mia as well which is something different that should do well. Then in the holiday period at the end of the year there are a ton of big movies that don't involve superheroes
  11. This is great, caught it in the cinema last year, lovely film and one of the best Ghibli films I've seen.
  12. I love that Cinderella got ripped to shit for CGI narrowing Lily James waist and then disney turns it up to 11 with Elastigirl and no one cares. this body design is RIDICULOUS
  13. Wow 23.9 is huge, #12 highest monday ever, and #7 best non-holiday Monday.
  14. Get on it and finish it off. Wont regret it. GOAT
  15. How did you find it? Weaponised hubcaps! And that shopping centre escape...LOL.
  16. I'm glad there are film studios willing to sell films that are not made for the general audience. As long as the film manages to find its audience, what else matters? Not every film needs to have mass appeal. In the same way that other A24 films won't be appreciated by the general audience, just look at The Disaster Artist, most people won't have the foggiest what The Room is, but the people who do, really enjoyed the movie and they turned it into a success.
  17. no super troopers 2 Good hold for JW though and great start for Hereditary.
  18. a lot of things in the film are on a smaller scale than the first one. like in the first one you had the T-Rex which is the biggest scariest most famous dinosaur... so in the second one the only way to go bigger was have 2 T-Rexes.
  19. That's what I am assuming too looking at upcoming releases.
  20. So under Shrek 2. Excellent news. The King is undefeated. His reign will never be ogre.
  21. yes that's what I was thinking too just wondered if anyone cared enough about Oceans 8 to try and convince me.
