  1. I was out clubbing yesterday, and while in the toilets I heard some guy saying "derka derka derka" to his friend, and the friend replied "derka derka". so I joined in and said "derka derka derka, muhammed jihad". next thing I know every single person in the toilets is shouting "derka derka derka, derka derka, muhammad jihad!", like a good 15 people. was fucking pissing myself (both literally and metaphorically). funniest thing I've experienced in ages. lmao
  2. Ah. No it wouldn't have made a difference, weather here has been shit the past couple weeks. last weekend wasn't terrible but wasn't anything special. It's mainly earlier in the year that it matters - when it's been mild/poor weather for a long time and then suddenly there's a blazing hot weekend, everyone goes out and doesn't want to be in the cinema. But when it's consistently good weather things settle down again.
  3. bad weather improves box office... good weather hurts it.
  4. Much better than Man of Steel and a huge step away from the atrocities that are BVS and Suicide Squad. I was very pleasantly surprised. Gal Gadot impressed me. After BVS I had compared her to a porn actress, thought she was awful. But her shallow lack of acting talent actually worked very well for Wonder Womans naivety. I thought it suited her really well. I'm glad it took the time to focus on a few details and slow down a bit. The scene in the little town was great. Loved Ewen Bremner as well. The song he sang, Green Grow the Rushes-O, my gran used to sing that song to me to get me to sleep when I was little. Not really relevant to the movie I suppose but it touched me. Also appreciated that with the exception of the 2 minutes on each end of the film, it didn't feel forced into the cinematic universe, there were no references to other superheroes etc. at least none that I noticed. Plot was pretty predictable, David Thewlis was pretty obviously the villain from early on, although I didn't anticipate Ares actually being in it; I thought she would realise that there are no gods, evil is man made. I was really surprised the greek gods ended up being real. so yeah I really enjoyed it.
  5. I was genuinely impressed by how little you need of Orloondo Bland to drag a film down to the pits of hell. It is genuinely stunning.
  6. That's... not really the generally accepted idea of "fantasy". Usually means; 1) sword and sorcery; 2) not in this world
  7. fantasy movies always bomb. I don't know why studios are even making them at all any more. Very sad as I love the genre. I'm glad there are still some being made but I don't see any financial sense in it. The idea of 7 King Arthur movies was a joke to begin with. its just not financially viable. aside from LOTR series, the biggest hit recently has been Warcraft, which may or may not have broken even, and even that has had no progress on a sequel.
  8. I enjoyed it, pleased to see Ritchie's films getting a bit better these days.
  9. - Awesome cameo from Katie McGrath - Not awesome cameo from Guy Ritchie - Bizarre cameo from David Beckham I enjoyed the movie.

  12. The aliens (well not the little one) were played by actors in costumes. Are you sure you're not just using another excuse to rip on CGI needlessly?
  13. I thought it was a good effort to resolve the problems of Prometheus (or rather, just avoid them completely), in that it doesn't try to ask as many big, vague questions. It's just a straightforward kind of B-movie. I don't really feel as strongly about the film as others since I don't really have anything invested in the franchise. I mean I didn't even clock that this is the creation of the xenomorph in this movie. I just took the film at face value, it was fine, enjoyable as an action-horror film.
  14. I enjoyed it. Big improvement on Prometheus and actually felt like an Alien film too. (Despite it being a direct sequel to Prometheus)
  15. If I had remembered to finish and submit my list in time, there'd be 3...
  16. In the UK we would say 14 July, not July 14, so I doubt that's a UK poster.
  17. Fucks sake, I completely forgot about doing this. I even made most of a list before the deadline, then forgot about it. Whoops. >dark knight rises >not trash
  18. no it's had plenty of marketing, I just don't subscribe to the beliefs that many people on the forum have that they think it's going to be a blockbuster hit. based on the presales I've looked at in various cinemas, I would be right.
  19. Chappie was fab. The mixed reception and negativity that I regularly see never fails to baffle me.
  20. I think Guardians should be good for $50M. I'm not convinced about how strong Alien is going to open.
  21. Important viewing to all who care about this movie. You need to learn the truth. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsdyahvKN3g
