  1. I'm not an expert in these things but isn't NASCAR, like, massive in rural America? Surely it makes sense to market a NASCAR movie to them.
  2. why aren't there more posts in this thread?
  3. Anyone recognise this car being sold on ebay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/253097700774?afsrc=1&rmvSB=true#viTabs_0 Current bidding is at $50K, wonder if it will go higher... if only I had the money.
  4. Public Service Announcement - if you're not aware, there are nationwide IMAX screenings of Your Name tonight only. @SchumacherFTW @Heretic @Jonwo
  5. No, his point is that despite the film being a box office bomb it won't necessarily lose money for certain parties.
  6. What 3 movies are those? Emoji Movie which I assume will get there, and...? Girls Trip, Captain Underpants, 47 Metres Down, The Big Sick, Valerian, Annabelle, Atomic Blonde, The Hitman's Bodyguard... none of these reached or will reach £10M.
  7. Hopefully American Made does alright. Cruise hasn't opened a movie below £2M since Rock of Ages. OK that was only 5 years ago but regardless I think it'll be fine. No competition and I've seen a fair bit of marketing for it. It will beat Dunkirk for sure. 5 weeks at #1 is still an incredible run though.
  8. US chains should latch on to what we have in the UK and Europe. Cinemas offer their own membership card and you see as many films as you want for the monthly fee. The ones here in the UK are slightly less than the price of two adult tickets, so if you see 2 movies a month then it saves you money. And it is clearly a viable business strategy because cinemas are pushing these VERY strongly. Also it's genuinely unlimited movies unlike movie pass.
  9. Yep it's not going to reach 150M. Very sad, I really didn't see this coming. And overseas it's even worse. Hope China can save it from oblivion.

  11. Tom Cruise in TWODEE IMAX? Yes please!
  12. Most people don't like 3D. Not because of the extra ticket price or anything they just don't like it. 3D showings are always quieter than 2D. Cinema near me has virtually given up on 3D as it does so badly. There was a big film recently, I think one of the Marvel films, can't remember what it was, and they did not have a single 3D showing.
  13. @CoolioD1 stealing from Sithposting are we?
  14. Act 1: I've seen more convincing computer graphics from the Super Nintendo Act 2: I never thought I'd see a movie that actually takes a plot line from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones Act 3: This film really wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be Other notes: I was not dissastisfied at all with Cara Delivingne. I had a nice wank at the back of the cinema. Big up to the costume designer. Dane DeHaan is getting more annoying with each passing movie he does. Complete was of space cowboy pimp Ethan Hawke. "With Rutger Hauer" is a bit of a stretch given that he only has about a 20 second speech to open the film.
  15. The original movie had that that. Unless you mean 'realistic' apes. I don't think it should be too much of a surprise, War much more than Rise/Dawn is in the same vein as the original 5 movies. They are not "fun", they aren't light, they are heavy, serious, proper science fiction movies that make you think. In fact the new trilogy is much more cleaner / tamer than the originals. There's no religion and philosophy in these ones and very little politics. The Revenant isn't even close to being a "bleak" film.
  16. If it finished its current markets at 350M (probably on the low side but w/e), then there's just Korea, Japan and China to go. If it does half of Dawn in Japan and Korea then that'd be about 20M from the two of those. China is unlikely to drop much if at all and could easily increase on the last one. If it did drop, then we're still looking at 100M+ remaining in the tank, so it'll be good for 450M. Above that I wouldn't want to guarantee anything. Disappointing for sure. Especially given it's everywhere has dropped, not just the US. In fact OS will have dropped significantly more than the US. Not good at all. Can't see them trying to continue this particular series of POTA.
  17. you know the first one did 37/84, right? I don't see why sequel would do 35/100.
  18. Well if 2017 does get to 34 100Ms, it won't be that way. There is now way Annabelle 2 gets a 3x multi. Even in summer.
  19. Seems like some pretty wild speculation. Despicable Me 3 only $40M marketing costs, while The Mummy is $150M? Yeah someone's pulling numbers blindly out of their rectum.
