  1. I highly doubt anyone with a family or a busy job would watch any film 6 times regardless of length.
  2. right, so you just confirmed the runtime did not have an impact. everyone interested is still gonna buy a ticket anyway, just will choose the time which is convenient for them. So the gross will be exactly the same whether it sells the tickets on Wednesday night or Saturday night.
  3. oh yes I forgot avatar got delayed. And yes Cruella will be big and theres West Side Story plus supposedly two other major untitled releases. Although one is WB so if Dune went there would be swapped presumably
  4. still kicking myself that I never caught hereditary even though it was in cinemas for a while.
  5. Dune seems the sort of thing that could get completely crushed at a busy Christmas, In The Heart of the Sea style.
  6. has there even been a recent Disney live action adaptation that's not a step down from the animated one?
  7. "a bunch of big movies coming out" where? There's one big movie. Not a bunch of them. and Pikachu is unlikely to "cut avengers legs off". by Sunday it was at 2.18 billion and two days later Monday and Tuesday its at 2.28 billion. I think it's time for Jim Gang to accept defeat.
  8. i think you've misunderstood what we're talking about buddy. this isn't 'posts on social media about X film', this is audience reactions on social media from people who were at premieres & very early exclusive screenings. they are usually very positive because of the atmosphere and environment of the showing puts them in a extremely good mood. That tweet above that says "I saw Graham Norton, what an awesome night!!" is a prime example. If a celebrity is sitting in front of you during film premiere what are the odds you're going to be a sour bean through the film. good spirits and environment and excitement can make bad films great experiences. these social media reactions are encouraged by the studio unlike reviews, reason being they are very likely to be positive.
  9. err no it didn't? The above posters are correct, generally speaking social media reactions are extremely positive. I recall the first Fifty Shades getting nothing but raves on social media. everything gets positive reactions, so if something gets bad reactions or middling reactions it often indicates something much worse.
  10. It's all just a matter of opinion. Over the last couple of years, I've seen Terminator, Terminator 2, Aliens, Avatar, and Titanic, in the cinema. And that is my opinion. Titanic is his best film followed by Avatar. I don't like Aliens. Terminator is fantastic and T2 is proper great too. For me, when I respond emotionally to a film, that beats pretty much any other qualities in a movie.
  11. my colleague/friend at work managed to accidentally hurl a brick at my fingers while i was lifting a rock, and now ican barelky use my han d. cant type cant do shit. fucking hurts
  12. ironjimbo: "jIM haS CoMpLetE ConTroL oVer AvAtaR 2, DiSneY hAs nO InpuT"
  13. well. sequels this late can benefit from having an even longer gap. avatar is not "on the edge£" of being irrelevant, it passed that point some time ago. so now extra time judst adds to niostalgia affect .
  14. woah woah woah. What? genuinely sad that i must wait yet another year
  15. to be honest i cant remember anything from black panther. i know others say he's a good villain but i don't remember it.
  16. Thanos is their second-top villain behind Loki who's a great baddie. All the other villains are bad tho.
  17. Marvel releasing different cuts of a film into cinemas seems quite unlike them. I also dont think they need to "keep the franchise ticking over", i mean it's what 6 months. There was 8 months before Captain Marvel since the last MCU. I think people can cope.... But yes definitely we'll soon be getting 4 per year, especially now that X-Men is being rebooted.
  18. surely by definition, if X sells more than Y, then X is more popular than Y. Unless you're comparing two very similar grossing films I dont see how there is any confusion with the word "popular"?
  19. Did you watch it in the cinema? I've seen Titanic a few times and never liked it, too overdone like you said. Really couldn't stand it. Then I watched it in the cinema. It's like magic. One of my favourite films now.
