  1. speak for yourself... Most people do not have 85 inch 4k TVs with surround sound. FOr most people even poor quality cinemas are vastly better than their TV at home.
  2. Great. Runs circles around Bohemian Rhapsody. I love that it's a musical too rather than straight up biopic.
  3. pretty sure the first SLOP had previews.
  4. tempted for a double bill of Rocketman and Booksmart later.
  5. If Hemsworth can turn the fourth Men In Black into another hit, he will cement his status as one of the most bankable movie stars in the world.
  6. well it is fairly long, 38 minutes longer than the original. over two hours is long for a kids film. for reference, 2016 jungle book was 20 minutes shorter.
  7. no I would say more likely that 2017 was the outlier We're almost half way through the year and theres 2 films over 800M. got some way to go for 10 of them. If i had to guess the top 10 for the year: Avengers endgame 2750m SWEIXTROS 1200m captain marvel 1127m lion king 1099m frozen 2 - 1000m spiderman far from home - 900m toy story 4 - 850m hobbs & shaw 800m joker - 700m jumanji 650m
  8. if you're going to use the top 10 worldwide grosses, i would personally look at the #10 spot. 2009 - $467m 2010 - $494m 2011 - $562m 2012 - $624m 2013 - $644m 2014 - $677m 2015 - $630m 2016 - $746m 2017 - $821m 2018 - $654m again its 40% same figure increase as barnack said.
  9. ahahaha suggesting that WARCRAFT's $430m success is somehow less than the epic bomb of Cowboys and Aliens. Like I said - Cowboys & Aliens was one of the biggest bombs in history
  10. that is an interesting descriptor for a director responsible for one of the biggest bombs of all time.
  11. pokemon was a big part of my childhood but i really didn't care for this. Its neat to see characters from your childhood drawn on the big screen but apart from that, there's not much to like. all the characters are terrible. i found it hilarious at the end where mewtwo says now there is one final thing to do and Tim goes "Oh!" My Dad!" like he had completely forgotten he is looking for his father.
  12. I'm sorry, have i just stumbled into a parallel universe where Jon Favreau is some legendary acclaimed filmmaker?
  13. the forums were part of box office mojo back then so you won't find anything. think those forums got removed in 2011(?)
  14. wow, what a shambles our politics are. we just had an election for our european representatives and a brand new party that no one ever heard of won by a huge margin. the party is only a few weeks old and was created just for this election. Crazy.
  15. these forums did exist when Avatar came out., Can't say i was here though. ask an old member like @baumer what it was like
  16. I am not convinced that most adults who grew up with the lion king now are itching for a CGI version. It will attract a huge young audience but don't think it is going to be the massive four quad 2 billion that some of you are predicting.
