  1. Lol, Well I can easily rip apart TDK and how it's the worst of the trilogy. It's all about perspective. Hearing how realistic TDK is almost vomit inducing. But no, Nolan's films will not be making an appearance on this list. I'm at 50. Couple hours of work and then we should be good to go.
  2. I actually like Beneath. Its a complete rehash of the first, but the 2nd half is very fun. All four sequels are actually pretty underrated. Rise and Dawn definitely have borrowed a lot from them. Escape is probably the best of them if you ever get a chance. 47 rated. 8 more to go through for the final list.
  3. I was trying to figure out a list to come up with next. I had 25, but it kept expanding. I still need to do my rankings, but I might need a few more. Anyone have anything from pre 1975? My list could include a lot. But I'm avoiding the ones that had complete cast overhauls or bullshit like that. These are going to be legit sequels. I'm going to exclude Bond Films as well as none have ever really been sequels outside of QOS, besides the only ones I would really add would be from the Moore Era, maybe Brosnan. These are going to be sequels that completely make you nearly hate watching the original, because you know what would come later. I'm also going to not let my personal opinions get in the way, I'm going to judge based on complete fall from the film prior: Whether it is story, acting, even technical issues, etc. Whether it was necessary and told horribly or just a cash grab. I will start most likely tomorrow night. I have 59, and have a good placing, now just need to as Tony Stark would say "Tinker"
  4. ST had a bad release date. They are famous for being front loaded, being in between JB, GB, and SS was a killer. Ghostbusters same thing thing. Though it did better than I thought, both are disappointing OS however. ST should honestly be clearing 300.
  5. LOL Are you serious. It's been almost 20 years, and I don't think Arnold has cared. Arnold is the only who makes it out alive of that film. He got paid 25 million, said about 25 jokes of different tones, and walked away. I don't think anyone can say Arnold can be ridiculed. As far as awfulness of that film it goes Chris, Uma, Clueless, Clooney, Unfortunately Pat Hingle, Bane, Jonathan Glover, Arnold. I'll take Arnold any day over Poison Ivy or TLJ as Two Face, because they give Arnold 2 scenes where he totally could have rocked in that role, the film was just awful. Leto will walk away completely fine. Much like Affleck, but I hope they don't They will kill in these roles. Adapt the game to a film DC, your universe sucks
  6. Leto is fine. He is let down by everything else. It's seriously hard to tell if an actor did well if every scene you are in doesn't have a beginning or/ either an end.
  7. Gremlins is always on at Christmas, and Gizmo is still probably one of the cutest things to ever come out of cinema. Maybe the right call would have been Gremlins 2, the arguably better film despite flopping.
  8. Interesting #1. Overall nicely put together list, it's hard finding the right mix of classics and smaller gems people have overlooked. I want to put a list together, not sure what the topic is yet.
  9. Only thing I'll say about Raul Julia. I don't think he's ever been considered a comedic actor by almost anyone (Addams Family and Street Fighter are among his most famous mainstream roles, but he was considered probably the elite actor by most in the industry.) I wish he lived to be in Desperado. But Presumed Innocent, along with Frantic and Regarding Henry are amazing. Running Scared (Classic, extremely underrated) LA Story, great pick, I love Patrick Stewart's cameo. Baums, have you ever seen The Star Chamber? With Spielberg Proteges on, I'm guessing Used Cars for Zebecks, and either Gremlins or The Burbs for Dante. I doubt it would be Adventures in Babysitting for Columbus.
  10. But why remake them in the first place? We got an overall satisfying Prequel batch. I doubt anyone would want to see 3 remade prequel films, new scripts doesn't change the overall storyline. We're simply talking better actors and updated effects. I'd much rather original SW films then dwelling on what has already come. I sure as hell wouldn't want a remake of the Hobbit prequels or Die Another Day, and as we all saw with Wrath of Kahn (Which is a classic but certainly dated and could have used it) it's pointless for such huge films to be done again.
  11. ESB ROTJ/ TFA/ ROTS/ ANH are all so close and have some each have parts that make them better than the rest TPM AOTC
  12. Bill Pullman's first two movies were Ruthless People and Spaceballs, quite possibly one of the best debuts ever. His confrontation with Judge Reinhold is one of my favorite scenes ever.
  13. 3 positives I'll give this one: The really creepy way they kill the admiral (Perhaps the most unsettling thing in the entire series) LaForge is the only one that really has any kind of character arc with by gaining his eyesight back (A few nice moments like that throughout) Picard got a little busy which was nice. It's a very simple movie when you have to follow a crossover/passing of the torch film, and a series greatest villain and whole world is at stake to we're going to secretly move this population to a duplicate one. Also the theme of mortality and time was done much better when you have Kirk, Malcolm McDowell, and Whoopi talking about it vs. Admiral "Who are you" and the Raisin head species we never heard of. Really the big action scene comes down to these: Data, Worf, and Picard singing opera in space They try to stop people from being beamed Picard vs. Raisin fist fight. I think there was a brief Ship battle with Riker Top 3 worst for sure, but I'll at least give some merit, cause after all, I always liked the series, and this maybe not be a nail biter episode. I'd still tune in for it.
  14. I love this movie. It was originally suppose to star Matthau but he caught pneumonia or something right before shooting. Harmless anytime kind of movie. Supporting cast is fun but this is all Garner and Lemmon. I get that Lemmon and Matthau are considered magic, I found Garner's more dick attitude brought out some fun edge in both characters. Spot a young Michael Pena as one of the Mexican border jumpers. "Oh my god, he's rubbing my breast again" "This time, pretend not to enjoy it" Grumpy Old Men A+ Grumpier Old Men A Out to Sea A- My Fellow Americans A- The Odd Couple II C- (They were on a role until this one.)
  15. Come one, Is the forum only two threads and that is it?
  16. Spielberg directed 3 scenes in Sith. He wanted to see how the cameras worked for TinTin. I guess my point is, you are still directing those scripts. Lucas directed them fine, its the PP and maybe slightly better acting your dealing with. Unless you are saying they gave the directors complete control of the film, which would never happen with any director except Spielberg in 2005.
  17. I think it came down to Carrie Fischer's fake dentures and really lack of acting that hurt those scenes. They gave her the chance, but she wrecked them. It's a shame but even 10 years ago she may have killed it.
  18. There's been a few Christian Slater films already. True Romance in the top 15, seems unlikely. I'm seeing Clue, In the Mouth of Madness, Equilibrium, etc. I'm always a man for Memento, despite it's love there are still so many that haven't seen it. Maybe Lock Stock, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Though I will say a lot of his films have been about Eroticism to a degree. Who knows, maybe Showgirls will show up in the top 10.
  19. Also just saw the original Fly from the 50s. It's actually a lot like the remake which was surprising to me. I actually found the ending pretty crazy for it's time as well. The Fly in 86 is just ridiculous though. It and The Thing remake are hands down the most influential films for pure gore, badass remakes, and fantastic parallels.
  20. Did you check out Tremors 5 that came out this past year. I think I preferred it to 3 and 4. Overall probably the best DTV series of all time. I read the original script that Bacon passed over due to his commitment to Apollo 13 for Tremors 2 which was the reason it went DTV to begin with.
  21. No idea what that means ESB has a certain immediacy to it, where as ROTJ shows the journey to find Han, and Luke's abilities have really grown between films have more weight to it. ESB on the other hand shows the Empire really is a direct result of the Death Star being destroyed, and they are literally going to destroy every rebel base there is.
