  1. EnData is usually more accurate. Not sure what happened here. Let's see at 12pm tomorrow.
  2. I see Yuan2.3M for The Batman and Y2.1m for Uncharted on Maoyan. Think there is a disconnect of data here.
  3. To be honest, they never actually announced the 19th April date officially.. That date was based on a lot of online speculation..
  4. Yeah but films like that will continur to dilute the brand and confuse audiences. I told some of my friends that this is not MCU but Sony Marvel - they said it is the same (esp since Spiderman got ppl really confused), they came out of the cinema and told me they will look at reviews before watching the next Marvel film.. lol..
  5. Uncharted 8.6, Moonfall 8.2. The Batman 8.0. That is Maoyan score though. Douban score - The Batman dominates
  6. Down to 8.1 now.. lower than Moonfall and Uncharted's 8.6. Weekday crowds not a fan, people seem to find it slow especially after a long day of work + having work the next day.
  7. Where did all of them get this 30% theaters closure in China info? opened up Weibo and any legit box office analyst or channel says at least 48% of theaters are closed. and in big cities, Universities are sealed so students can’t go out and watch films.
  8. WoM for Batman there is good. Doesn't matter Aquaman or not - we are talking about almost 50% closure of theaters in China, and capacity cap for the remaining - even Aquaman would have suffered in this circumstance. You cannot make such conclusive statement without looking at the circumstance.
  9. Might be lower. Let's see what happens this weekend and whenever theaters start to reopen or continue to close down next week. Right now 40 -50 % of theaters are down....
  10. Total gross aside, i think they might lose money in China.. I heard marketing was crazy in China, billboards, posters everywhere and then COVID (re)struck.
  11. That is outdated. See my latest post. Evening wasn't too strong. Might not even get USD4m OD (including previews)
  12. Day 1 seems to be 21 - 22m Yuan.. (less than Maoyan predict of OD 27m Yuan) Numbers are not strong. Understand from Gavin, more than 40% of cinemas in the country are closed and box office impact is more than 60%. Won't hit 100m yuan (USD15.7m) OW, unless a crazy jump happens tomorrow...
  13. 9/10 on Maoyan as well. let’s see whether it drops. good opening score, hope for a good bump tomorrow. Issue is that even the cities which cinemas are not closed, people are also fearful and not alot of people have mood to go to theaters. But WoM currently is definitely good.
  14. Between 6 - 9pm is the golden hour and where numbers jump very fast. let’s wait and see. douban score is not bad, but need to see Maoyan score.. if lower than uncharted, then it is over.
  15. Agreed but some people (who didn't even celebrate Depp's casting) are now loud online about Depp being replaced...
  16. Thursday midnights - 1.6m Yuan for The Batman Pathetic presales at c.5.5m Yuan for Friday, now we can only hope it has a good multiplier and get to 30m Yuan 1st day. Will be interesting to see Maoyan score. @charlie Jatinder Talking about OD not presales now, should be permitted here? Have you watched the film? @Gavin Feng also have you watched the film - curious to see what you think WoM will be in China.
  17. You should look at the China box office subforum; lots of insights before Deadline even reports. A lot of tier 1 & 2 cities are impacted which are the usual supporter of Hollywood films If situation worsens, 25% impact is an understatement.
  18. I mean to keep (or attract more) subscribers... they could have a 30-day theatrical exclusive or even simultaneous release for Turning Red. Or at least theatrical overseas or something. What a waste honestly especially after seeing this tweet:
  19. 1. Presales increase over the weekend is always negligible in China; presales barely opened at like 5pm on Fri evening. 2. Shanghai and Shenzhen and some other key cities for Hollwood films are down.. 3. Some DC films are popular in China - i.e Aquaman but Batman's popularity is yet to be proven. But to be fair Dark Knight rises beat (barely due to no 3D) Amazing Spiderman there but the 2 prev Nolan Batman films were not released there, Batman villain films like Joker, TSS and SS were never released there. Let's see. China is a Word of mouth market - but without Shanghai and Shenzhen, and being a 3 hr film.. not sure how it will be received.
  20. Maoyan has it, it is not huge though. Remember to change the date to next Friday, not this Friday.
  21. Presales started for The Batman in China… 1 week before opening. Can’t remember the last time a Hollywood film had 1 week of presales. Warner Bros is really genius at China distribution compared to other studios. Now let’s hope the COVID situation does not continue to worsen.
  22. Haven't had time to track unfortunately.. crazy week at work! But good news - it opened at no.1 in Malaysia; beating The Batman's 7th day https://www.facebook.com/154566927905053/posts/5547316518630040/
