  1. Culturally neutral family friendly tale about animals that takes audiences on big spectacle adventures. Make sense? I don't know how much bad scripts matter when you're dubbing new languages in.
  2. Pixar going through some growing pains the last few years, that's all.
  3. Frankly, I don't see how the last two movies equal so much larger a dip than Rat and Wall-E back to back
  4. 2 months after the highest opening of all time? A little...
  5. He pretty much said that movies that appealed to the whole family were crap too
  6. For good reason--he messed up JC bad. I don't get why these guys can't just keep making phenomenal animated movies. The process must be terribly exhausting or something
  7. This is a repost from the original movie thread, cus I'm bored and I posted it there after it was buried "on the lot", which no one goes to-- "So....THIS plot idea for Finding Nemo 2 came to me when I was at work today (my job sucks, okay?). To keep the whole idea of "Finding" Nemo and not being ridiculous with it, imagine this. We start with the same beginning as the first movie, but this time, we follow Coral, when she goes down to save her eggs. She never sees what happens to Marlin, and she escapes with only one egg, and never looks back after the monster fish chases her away. She names her baby Marlin Jr. FAST FORWARD, to however long later the main story of Finding Nemo happens, right? The story of Marlin's journey across the ocean has been legend since it's happened, and living on some far away part of the sea, Coral hears about a clown fish's journey to save his son Nemo -- and she sets out to find Nemo, or Marlin Jr. does and she follows, or something like that....... /time for bed."
  8. The people that use it usually use it in a derogatory way, as if Dreamworks Animation of the last 4-5 years has not been making movies worth aspiring to.
  9. How is it a "return to form" for Pixar? The movies were not made one after the other. They were being developed at the same time. The "return to form" statement suggests Pixar launches Cars 2 into development, finishes it, and then releases it -- and only after it receives bad reviews they launch Brave in an effort to overcome the mistakes of Cars 2. The biggest discussion for me here is development time. Cars 2 and Brave did not receive (to my knowledge) the same development time as many of the other stories, and they suffered for it (Cars 2 much more so than Brave). Both of them got bumped up a year when Newt was canceled. Looking forward, I'm glad they had MU to release next year (assuming the rumors that it was written 7+ years ago). Not only do my kids and fam love MI, but MU has had a ton of time on the drawing board (hopefully), and it gives one more year of development time to Pixar's next few originals.
  10. Can I ask, did you initiate Cars 2 bashing or did they? Cus... if you went to a Pixar Fan Club forum and started bashing a Pixar movie, well...I guess I could see why they would respond poorly? Your obsession with hating Cars 2 could also be seen as shallow and/or immature. If you want to discuss Brave, discuss--I don't think we're in short supply here. I agree with that a lot actually.
  11. I don't get how someone says what Pixar is or isn't and their authority is derived from their love of Pixar's 8th and 13th movies (both of which are on the lower half of Pixar's films BO-wise) Different taste, I guess -- although when Rat is mentioned as the best, and FN one of the worst, i've typically noticed it's by fans who don't have kids (not saying if that is true of the above poster...).
  12. Everyone keeps posting that this movie has very good WOM because of internet polls and critic ratings, but I don't see the real life translation of this.I didn't like it. My good friend (a comic book artist/nerd) didn't like it. 3-4 friends from work who have seen it have said (at best) it was pretty good, or okay (everyone else hasn't seen it yet). One of them disliked it as much as I did. 2-3 other people on FB have posted things blasting it, and I haven't seen any post the opposite.I'm not seeing it.
  13. My favorite tear-jerker moments in a Pixar film. 1 - "I can't lose you again," from the Incredibles 2 - "I heard he took on three," from Finding Nemo 3 - "When I get there," from Up
  14. Probably not since the female character -- it will always stand with girls and moms. The only forgettable film is Bugs Life (even though it was good, it's pretty much already a forgotten film lol).
  15. Most people I know have not liked it nearly the same way everyone loved TA or TDK. It's getting a response more similar to other SH films like Captain America or Thor -- again, purely from the handful of people I talk movies to at work, family and friends.
  16. Actually, I was a huge TDK fanboy a few years ago (from the moment Ledger was cast, not the moment of his death like most of you). I can forgive Nolan for a bad movie, but I cannot forgive the bad movie itself. Since my wife hasn't seen it yet, this is the best place to vent my frustrations lol
  17. Everyone I know still remembers it as the greatest super-hero film of all time.
  18. You know the box office is in the toilet when it's July and the #2 movie of the weekend is a rated R Ben Stiller comedy with a 14% RT score. YUCK at most of the movies this summer outside of TA and the animated films.
  19. So top 10 in TDKR's second weekend: 120MTop 10 in TA's second weekend was: 160M?And TA grossed 40M more than TDKR in its second weekend?Just so I get the math straight...And Brave 1 day away from Number 1 animated for the year.
  20. Garfield brought out a Peter Parker performance that was on par with the various Avengers characters and actors. Nothing is on par with what Heath did. If he is second place, it is a distant second place.
  21. They could probably have plenty of talking roles around them. Think Wall-E's second half.I assume this means no Gru or other DM characters. Nothing yet on if its a prequel or a sequel type spinoff?
  22. Just pointing out--Brave closing in on the Lorax, should pass it Friday?
